Philly Hostel — Hotel in Philadelphia

DO NOT STAY HERE!! Unless you want to risk arriving, then being threatened and kicked out if you ask for the room you actually paid for.

Rude, condescending (to put it mildly) host named Ki threatened to kick me out the moment I arrived. I paid for a 6 person room, and he tried to put me in 12 person dorm. When I politely raised it to his attention, he said "All the rooms are the same" (lie #1) and "All the rooms are the same price (lie #2). Not true, obviously larger dorm rooms are cheaper about $10/night. Then he acused me of being "rude" and "disturbing other guests" just because I was trying to have a conversation with him (I never raised my voice once and apologies for disturbing anyone). He then forcibly walked me out, told me to "get out" and he was going to cancel my reservation!

I calmly asked if I could show him the booking. "No, no", he kept refusing even to let me talk , or show him anything to defend myself. Then once outside, he rudely walked away from me, as I repeatedly asked calmly and nicely to just please look at what I booked or discuss anything. "No, I'm not interested in anything you have to say" and "No, I don't want to see the booking" he kept saying.

He finally relented, put me in a 6 person room, then made extra effort to act like a complete jerk every time he could, finding every opportunity he could to nitpick every little thing I did to make my stay as unpleasant as possible. I literally avoided him the entire time and barely spoke 5 words to him. At 10:48 on checkout day, basically told me "You can leave" (checkout is at 11am).

In 25+ years of hosteling, I've never had a more unpleasant AirBnb / Hostel experience. This guy made an extra effort to hold a personal vendetta against me from the moment I arrived, and then kept making idle threats, saying he "reported me to Booking.com". For what, asking for the room I paid for???

The place is also in a ghetto part of town, far from anything, completely run down, looks nothing like photos (I don't expect much from a hostel, but even their photos and advertising are lies, then they try to put you in a different room than you booked, and threaten to kick you out on the street if you don't take it). The beds are also THE WORST -- worn out, shakey triple bunk beds with super think mattresses (wooden bars in your back all night), and all 3 bunks sway and move back and forth, impossible to even climb into bed or shift an inch in your sleep without the entire stack of beds shaking violently, keeping everyone awake all night long. If one person moves, the entire bunk wakes up. Good luck getting any acutal sleep here.

Don't book here unless you want to risk being homeless for the night and enjoy getting talked over/at by an unreasonable jerk and...

Don't waste your money. I booked two days. When I woke up after the first nite it looked like I had the chicken pocks so I went to the hospital to see why I look this way and also I wanted to know why my whole body is so itchy. The doctor told me that there bed bug bites and not to go there anymore. The hostel won't give me a refund or let me cancel the second day without a 45 dollars fine. I'm in communication with a law firm and we're suing and trying to shut them down for human sake. Thank you have a nice day. They say if it sounds to good to be true...
