Sunshine Food Market — Local services in Philadelphia

This is one of the worst stores I’ve seen. For one they over work their employees and all the employees at the meat counter complaining. I got a $200 meat package after being in the store for an hr and only two men working. In man was doing seafood and the African guy was moving slow taking so many orders and getting confused. While doing my order his workers comes and yells at him about a phone order so he’s doing both. After being rushed to the front of the store to to pay for my things since I was the last one in the attire and they were ready to leave . I today noticed that my lunch meat cut thick . I sent my daughter to the store and they said it’s nothing they can do. I call the manager and he tells me instead of putting two pieces of meat just use one and that I should have told them how I wanted my meat cut. I never got a chance to say anything about how I wanted it because I was forced to the front to pay due to the workers complaining about how the cashiers were still sending customers to the back knowing they had to clean up and finish phone orders. I’ve never told them how I wanted my meats cut before and I’ve been going there for a year now. Why now did I have to say anything and after spending $245 I should be able to get my lunch meat fixed. They have bad and I mean bad customer service. And not to mention they’re very rude. I rather spend my money elsewhere then to deal...

Visited this store on 01/14/2024 around 2:15. I visit almost every month and get the same thing , meat package # 3 and sub the chicken drum sticks for chicken wings with no problem. Today the guy in the store had an issue and said it was a price difference which we had no problem with. The store is pretty pricey anyway. The problem I had was his attitude towards me and my partner. He was very rude , threatening us , calling us names(Gay, Dikes) I’ve NEVER been treated this way in this store and been going since a little girl with my grandma in which I told him and told smartly responded and said “She dead now things change”. WOW! I asked for a refund in total which I he did in 2 separate transactions but refused to give me 2 separate receipts and why I asked why he said “Because I said No” WOW….Again. I will NEVER return to this store and now neither will my family and I suggest no other ppl of the community does neither.

Update:I went to Cousin’s on 5th and Berks, Much better customer service and much better prices. I told the manager of the store about my experience at this market and amazingly he knew the owner of this location and called him and explained what happened. Never know who you will run into and...

I shop there frequently ... I'm a very quiet person so the only ones I really talk to is a very polite African American guy with glasses at the lunch meat counter, the guy with dreads at raw meats and halal meats station and the light skin woman at the register they give me the best customer service if there not there I simply get what I came and leave .... I must say some of the shelf items are a bit high in price but in all honesty your paying for convenience more then anything ...I come here mostly for my meats and lunch meats because they always have the best deals .... I recommend them highly if your in the area to go to them for your meats at least! Thanks Guys and keep up...
