Maybe Iâm just not a murder mystery girlie but I wanted to be somewhere else the entire time. Honestly, the actors and how into their roles were the only saving grace for this for me. My mom and I were relieved neither of us were picked to be suspects; I think I wouldâve walked right out if that had happened. You can call me a Debbie Downer, but I was happy to just sit back, eat my food, and listen versus get up multiple times and get back to my seat only to eat cold food. Yes, that actually happened. We got our first â3 minute investigation timeâ (itâs not actually 3 minutes, more like 8-10 minutes) and the servers had just set our entrees down at our table. We were hungry and wanted to dig into our food. But no, we had to get up and ask strangers questions they didnât even know the answers to.
The biggest issue with how the process is set up is that these random people are the ones who ultimately are the ones who help you solve the mystery. The only thing is is that they donât even know all the answers so each suspect is quite literally making stuff up if they so choose to). One of the suspects we interrogated told us he was making stuff up because he didnât want to just say âI donât knowâ when people would ask him pre-selected questions that were on our dollar bills.
It was cool that the actors had the audience participating but it wasnât in the right way. I thought it wouldâve been cool if there was a big clue or two that would be discovered as the night went on or something, but instead it was just get up and ask people questions and hope these random Joes can handle it.
I just think itâs not a strong model if youâre relying on the randomly chosen people who attend the event with you to entertain and help carry out the mystery. One of the suspects clearly was not into it and every time he spoke to the crowd during a âhearingâ heâd be kind of quiet and awkward. Which is the prime reason why my mom and I were SO relieved we didnât get chosen to be a suspect.
We got lucky because almost every suspect was entertaining and actually got into it, but I feel like not every time youâll get all these hidden actors from people.
Food was pretty mid but at least the servers were more attentive than other reviews are talking about. Cocktail prices are amazing (in this city) for the size of...
Read moreMy friends and I went to the masquerade murder mystery show at the windmill winery this evening. Overall, i would say the event was fun and an interesting evening. However, it was very awkward at the beginning of the night as when we arrived the actors were already starting the bit without any real notification or instruction they were doing so. We didnât know this at first so they all came across as very weird people and it was very awkward and confusing. While getting up to get food, the actors stopped up and said the event would be starting soon, which we were very confused by because the event started at 7 and it was only 6. We mentioned that the shows starts at 7 and the actors were like oh does it? We were like well thatâs what the website says and they seemed upset by this. We think it was a bit but it was very confusing and not entirely sure why that would be funny to anyone. The event started at 7 as scheduled.
Then the thing that really made the low rating for me was the female actor (orange ish hair) that was playing the maid was unbelievable rude to my group of people. Honestly, their acting was very awkward so again hard to tell if it was a bit but she kept making weird comments to my group about how weâre so rich and evil and that she is just a poor maid and then mentioned we had to stand outside and wait for food like poor people. She then made a comment to my friend that her mask looked cheap, which was honestly very offensive as she was invited last minute to the event and threw something together with a little bit of notice and tons of people werenât even in costume at all. We werenât sure if her being crazy rude was the âbitâ because frankly it seemed genuine and also it didnât really make sense character wise for a maid to be so outright rude to her guests she is serving so overall it was so weird - really bad acting and offensive for people very hard to offend.
Some parts were fun (once you drank off the awkward vibes), but that girl really ruined it for us and they should definitely make a character change there for the maid to just act like a normal maid. If you want someone to be so rude to guests (not sure why tbh), you should make a heiress real house wives type of ex wife or something a character - it would make sense for that person to be catty and...
Read moreSo I hate to leave bad reviews, but I have to be honest; not worth the money. I even got the tickets for me and my girlfriend on groupon. We went to the 20s theme on 9/29. First of all, they put you in the back room, packed with about a hundred people, and ask you to "investigate." Trying to maneuver through the crowds and th wait staff was impossible. Secondly, their speaker system was crappy, and you could only hear half of the clues being said. And lastly, the guy playing the detective and the person who dies in the beginning was terrible. You could barely hear him, and it seemed like he didn't know what the hell was going on. he kept looking at the other actors as if to ask for their help. Did he not know the script?! I'm so glad I paid to see an elementary school level performance. However, the guy who was the photographer was very professional and friendly, and the young gal in the long flapper dress, the female actress, was a lot of fun. I think the best part was her interaction with the audience. Didn't buy the photos, because they are 20 bucks a pop. The food is meh. Kind of bland, but they give you a good size portion. Props to the wait staff at the restaurant for serving the size of the crowd. I don't think I'd pay to go see another one of their shows; not unless they got better guy actors. I'll be back to the old Spaghetti factory though. Just not for a...
