Book the nice hotel. 9 out of 10 times, it’s always worth it. In our case, we’ve had an amazong staycation at The Phoenician and we’re definitely coming back for some R&R #scottsdale #phoenicianscottsdale #staycationideas

Booked this appointment 2 months in advance. Their website to book the massages is not user-friendly at all. Took me several attempts to try to book services for 2 people. Booked the appt first thing in the morning. Upon arrival, shocked to see 15 people standing outside for the doors to even open. Once the doors opened, they ushered everyone to the front desk. The wait was up to 10 minutes to check in. The herding continued into the locker room to get undressed. Too many people at once caused an overlap and everyone on top of each other. It is very uncomfortable trying to get undressed with 3 stranges within 6 inches of you. I had to keep moving to the side to give others personal space. For a spa of this level and pricing, that is unfortunate. The waiting area was tranquil and nice. My masseuse came to greet me and whisked me away to our suite. The massage was fantastic. It was the best part of the experience. The final part of our stay was to go to the pool area for the day. The place was packed. People had claimed chairs when they weren't even there. They had left their towels and gone to get services. There were 2 servers to the entire area and long wait times. Overall: the pricing and reputation was an overall disappointment to my experience. Maybe I would comeback on a slower day to give it a second chance.

I reached out to the spa the next day after my treatment to let them know of my experience and was assured management would return my call. I have received no communication so far.

As an LMT of 15 years I was completely shocked at the poor skill of the therapist that worked on me in such a high calibur spa. I have been to many spas around the world and this was the worst experience so far. The therapist repeatedly went across my shoulder blades and spine and other bones with the boney part of her forearm, which was extremely painful. Not in a hurt good type of way. Bone on bone is just something you do not do as a therapist. She also questioned what I wanted at the beginning of the treatment. I specified my neck. She did not touch my neck at all and at the very end of the treatment when I asked her to please work in my neck, she said "I have one minute." She proceeded to use both hands on both sides of my neck, it felt like she was strangling me and that I had made her angry by asking her to work on the one area I had specified. She should have had plenty of time in an 80 minute treatment. Her timing throughout the whole treatment was a overall unbalanced. I ended the massage and said that was enough. I question whether or not this therapist is trained or licensed, it was that bad and dangerous.

Lastly, especially during covid I was completely shocked that there was no consent to treat, no health history taken, no forms signed before the treatment. This is a huge liability especially when the therapist is poorly trained and possibly causing injury. I left the treatment in pain and with a horrible headache.

For such a beautiful place, the experience was so very disappointing. I didn't want to have to leave a review but when management did not call me back it left me with no...

Wow! This place is magical! The remodel was more than I could have imagined! The staff is very nice and the ambience is heavenly! Can’t say enough good things about spa and amenities! The best in the valley in my opinion.... HOWEVER...

I do have to add this: my husband bought treatments for us during a stressful time and I called to make sure I had a female therapist AND requested a specific therapist by name. I was assured I would have that therapist. When we checked in, I was NEVER notified they changed my therapist and gave me a MALE therapist (for a deep tissue massage). I specifically asked for a female therapist I had in past whom I really liked. I was shocked when a male came to get me in waiting area. I should have said no, but didn’t want to cause a fuss and hurt anyone’s feelings. I was so angry and spoke to front desk: she shrugged her shoulders and said, “well, we have to even out people’s schedules so everyone has clients”.. NOT my problem. Spas should NEVER change a therapist especially when you are expecting a specific one you have chosen and NEVER switch the GENDER of the therapist. As I mentioned, I was never notified of any change before we came in that day and they NEVER let me know when we checked in. This should NEVER happen. I truly was shocked at the ambivalence of person who checked me in and of the one whom I brought this to their attention. I am SO disappointed because this is my favorite spa and I go several times a year... we also buy several gift certificates for our family, friends and employees. What a disappointment. No follow up...
