We have dined at the Phoenician before and it was absolutely phenomenal but it was our first Christmas Buffet at the Phoenician Tavern! I thought this would be high end, and a Christmas night dinner to remember/ possibly make a tradition. BUT to charge $85 plus the service fee and the 20% tip (because what kind of scrooge wouldn’t tip on Christmas Day) this is NOT worth it.. $300 later and I’ve never been more disappointed in a restaurant that claims to be resort style.. I have also NEVER written a review, specially a negative one like this but hopefully it saves someone else a horrible Christmas night..The $22 drink I had tasted like pure cough syrup, my husband agreed, and it was supposed to be a fruity pineapple raspberry martini (Sonoran Martini). We got our first plate and one of the waiters or hosts followed me back to the table to asked if my husband enjoyed the football then asked if he ignored me a lot during it.. which to me was incredibly rude/crossing a boundary. We had our first round and it took until was almost done with our second plates for anyone to grab the first two empty plates on our table.. yet three wait staff said goodbye to us when we left so I know they we not understaffed at all.. then the kicker was two of the desserts ran out, our reservations were at 7:15 and we left by 8:40. How do you run out of the two out of the four desserts you’re serving and still charging folks full price? Plus it’s not like we showed up astronomically late, we were on time and it’s insane that they ran out early.. why offer a buffet when you can’t actually keep up with the intake of your guests? All together I would never recommend this to anyone, unless you want to throw away your money to the name of the Phoenician. Bad service, over priced and disappointing menu...
Read moreMy wife and I were huge fans of Relishes when it was in this same location at the beautiful Phoenician Resort. When the hotel decided to change the restaurant concept and rename it The Tavern, we were expecting everything to be improved. We visited for the first time for Lunch on St. Patricks day. Almost everything that could have gone wrong did. The food took over an hour to arrive at our table...and we were to second table to arrive that day. Neither meal we ordered was good enough to encourage us to come back again. We tried to rationalize that they had only been open about a week and so had to be struggling to get their act together. We had decided to just not return. The server came to our table to ask us if everything was to our satisfaction. Sadly, I had to tell her no. We didn't complain or get angry, simply told her that we were very disappointed. I did not tell her that if I were to review The Tavern after that one experience it would have been with one star. Within a couple of minutes a lady appeared at our table to express her apologies that we were unhappy. Her name is Rosa Cano, who I learned is the food and beverage manager (?). Rosa could not have been more concerned or caring and because of the beauty of the restaurant and her genuine concern about our poor experience I gave this review three stars...and we intend to return soon to give The Tavern another try. We sincerely hope this place can successfully get it's act together because its had a wonderful remodel, is relaxing and peaceful to visit, with wonderful views. Thank Rosa, your warm and caring attitude helped immensely and you are a genuine asset to The Phoenician...

Equally impressive was the drink menu, which featured a fantastic array of expertly crafted cocktails, fine wines, and premium spirits.
