I was volunteering at the food Warehouse which is surrounded by approximately 8 ft high brick walls topped with barbed wire okay so they have a bunch of Warehouse cats I guess you call them and when I first started volunteering there when I walked in the front door there always used to be a water bowl out there two weeks go by and there's no water bowl out there anymore and I asked about it and the volunteer lady in the front office said we're not feeding the cats anymore they become too much of a nuisance we don't want them so why don't they call the pound and have them picked up No we were told we are not allowed to feed or water the cats and if we getcaught doing so we will be kicked off campus. Well two weeks ago by and th e cat is still hiding in the bushes looking horrible so I go to the cafeteria and get a cup of water and some food go out to the bushes and get caught by one of the ladies she tells me to pick it up and throw it away not wanting to but I did,( no w feeling horrible that I did)walk in the building and get stopped by the other head of volunteering lady who in turn yells at me in front of everybody and escorts me off the property and tells me she never wants to see me try to walk in that front door again. This is the month of July, if they find a way thur the bard wire fence there is nothing but the freeway and some runned down places . We are not in the wild these are domesticated cats that have been relying on them for who knows how long.
Am I the only one who sees this is the wrong way to go in about getting rid of the cats by slowly starving and watering them to death sorry for all the punctuation mistakes I'm so upset by this. I feel the women at the front office are evil and I can't wait for their judgment day I think about those cats all the time now. I am SMI with OCD which is why I was volunteering there and can't get this off my mind. I wish somebody would say or do something to these people. Themonth of...
Read moreThe people here are so rude and nasty. especially the heavy Spanish looking guy. I called multiple times to speak to someone because my battery died in my car, got a new called over and over to let them know i was coming. They kept hanging up on me. I kept my cool stayed respectful. When i got there, I sent my daughter inside to speed up the process. They were so rude to my daughter, ignoring her while she's at the service desk. They lied to my daughter saying no one called not knowing they were on speaker phone when I was talking to them with my daughter in the car. My daughterlet them know she heard me talking to them. The lady stopped talking to my daughter told the guy to go get a chair. By this time i was coming through the front doors with my service dog. A sign in the desk says service dogs allowed ONLY. Why the big Spanish looking guy tells me not even service dogs allowed like I don't know my rights with my dogs. I presented my tags for my dogs. He asked me why my dog doesn't have a jacket on? I let them know those jackets are not free just cause your dog is a service dog. You have to buy them and I would gladly accept it if they bought one. Then they gave me a small wheelchair. I'm 250lbs. They didn't complete the paperwork. Just told me to fill out my part and take the yellow carbon copy. I was never rude or slick with them. As I left they wouldn't hold the door. They stood there including the security guard and watch me struggle in my wheelchair to get out the door. This is aweful! I'm really disappointed...
Read moreI recently had the opportunity to volunteer at St Vincent De Paul, and I have to say, it was a truly rewarding and enriching experience. As someone who is always looking for ways to give back to the community, I was thrilled to find such a great resource center that offered so many opportunities to get involved.
The staff at St Vincent De Paul were friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived, and they made us feel right at home. We spent the day making pizzas in the resource center, and it was a great opportunity to connect with the community and make a positive impact. The kids especially loved helping out and seeing the joy on the faces of those we were helping.
In addition to the hands-on volunteer opportunities, St Vincent De Paul also offers a wide range of resources for those in need. Whether you're looking for assistance with food, clothing, or other essentials, the staff at St Vincent De Paul are there to help. They are truly dedicated to serving the community and making a difference in the lives of those around them.
Overall, I would highly recommend St Vincent De Paul to anyone looking for a way to give back to the community. Whether you have a few hours to spare or you're looking for a longer-term volunteering opportunity, this is a great place to get involved. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the sense of community and connection is truly special. I can't wait to come back and volunteer again at this fantastic...
