Iâll start out with the good. The produce is all in VERY good condition, the meat selection is huge, and I love that they have frozen meals made on site you can just pop in the oven. The service was very nice, although I do think they need at least a couple of courtesy clerks to help bag groceries and bring a customerâs cart back. Now, the frustrations: This grocery store was probably really great for basic common grocery shopping before the pandemic, but my first time shopping here today was SO stressful because they have shopping carts blocking half of all the isles to keep people from passing each other, WHICH PEOPLE STILL DO. I understand the attempt, but this shouldâve stopped a week after they probably did this at the beginning of the pandemic. Once they saw it actually makes people CLOSER TOGETHER while shopping, they shouldâve tried something different. Maybe each isle could be dedicated to going one direction and leave room for people to pass each other, putting arrows on the ground and dne signs up. That works in every other small grocer Iâve been to, so yâall should try it. Either way people are gonna break the rules and nobody can change that, so we should at least make it a little less annoying when they do so theyâre not squeezing by me when I just wanna look at ingredients so I donât die from a good allergy LMAO Also, maybe I was expecting too much when I thought theyâd have more meat and dairy substitutes available. The ones I could find were spread about the store pretty erratically, and they only have one brand of almond milk in unsweetened original. Thatâs the best selling flavor, so youâd think theyâd have it in all the brands they carry. I expected it to be like Kroger or Albertsons in there and really wanted to love this place and support local business, but I probably wonât return to this store while weâre working here in Picayune. Sadly, Iâd rather go to Walmart and be able to shop at...
Read moreI CAN'T BELIEVE THIS STORE MANAGER! We bought 2 $30 packs of steaks and froze one, and marinated one and both ended up being spoiled. Called and they said I could bring them back to exchange them. The pack that was marinated no longer had the label obviously because it a getting cooked. The manager said he would not do anything with the open pack after telling me he would on the phone. For the frozen pack that was obviously discolored he told me to go pick out another pack and when I did, he simply gave me store credit for the sale price of the pack steaks and expected me to pay the price difference. So I lost Gas going ask the way back to town to return then, lost about $20 worth of marinade, and had no more money, and had to leave embarrassed with nothing but a bowl of rotten steak and a gift card that he didn't even know how to refund on. Up until recently I would have said they are an "Excellent locally-owned grocery store with great prices!" I love Small local businesses like this, but never again will I be treated like that. He straight up said that I might have bought the open pack elsewhere. To try and return them there... But with a spoiled pack that I froze the same day? They were the ONLY place I EVER bought steaks. Now, I guess I have to get them at Rouse's. THIS MAN DOES NOT BELONG IN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE INDUSTRY. I didn't want a refund, I didn't ask for the marinade to be replaced, we just wanted our steaks, and ended up with NONE, WHILE BEING HUMILIATED IN FRONT OF A...
Read moreUpdate: Remodeling has mostly finished, they are still working on non-public areas and a few additions. Generally though they are done and I am impressed. So far they exceeded my expectations. The best upgrade is the sushi "bar". Always fresh and well labeled selections. Labels include the normal info...date, price, weight, ingredients ; they include raw/cooked, name of person that prepared product, and any of the known allergens. The labels also let you know the spiciness of the product. The seafood/fish market is impressive, I do not buy fresh seafood (I catch my own), but I have not heard anything negative about the seafood market. I don't count price complaints in any way. Pricing is not as controllable as you might think. I've worked retail for over 35 years... Quality is more expensive than quantity. Store is under going remodeling right now đ. So, it's a bit inconvenient. However, once done the updates will be awesome and greatly improve the whole shopping experience. Always happy and friendly staff. Great deli with breakfast and lunch/dinner plates. The PO boys are the best in town. There is a fish market, meat market, bakery, and produce counter. They have actual butchers that never fail me. They also have a sushi chef that prepares rolls and dumplings in house. Selection is limited and pretty standard, but always fresh, very well...
