Waffle House — Restaurant in Picayune

The food was good. But service wasnt great from the waitress. She never refilled our drinks and after she dropped our food off she never came back to check on us. She was training another waitress and had her give us our check. One of the cooks even passed by and refilled mine and my two sons drinks. I use to waitress so i know how demanding the job can be so I tip big and always clean up to make life easier on a waitress. I would have tipped even more considering we were stranded there because my car was broke down on the highway and my bf was meeting the tow truck driver. So my sons and I were there for along time. We were there for about a hour and half and only had our drinks refilled once. I didnt pay the bill till we left. So with the service the tip wasnt that great. Its sad cause my tips are always $10 and up depending on the service. Like i told the new waitress. Never ignore your tables if they hadnt paid their bill yet. Even though we had breakfast earlier, we could not pass up the opportunity to stop at a Waffle House! Although I ordered a regular waffle, I saw a waitress bring out a blueberry for someone else and commented to my husband how I should have ordered differently. Our waitress heard me and insisted on making me a blueberry waffle instead, assuring me the other would not go to waste. All the ladies working behind the counter were very friendly, engaging, and fun. It was clear they all loved working together, and it was nice to see them helping each other out with their customers. Sitting at the counter was a great way to watch them interact, and we appreciated how they all wished us safe travels back home. If I lived in the area, I'd be in here all the time. This is the first time I've had a bad experience at a waffle house. We came in at 2:00 a.m. to get some breakfast. The grits had obviously been sitting for a very long time, as our portions had big chunks of congealed grits that had obviously been scraped from the bottom of the pot. My over easy eggs that apparently were cooked first and put on the plate and then they cooked everything else. By the time it got to the table the eggs were cold. My waffle was just barely cooked, was not crispy and was on the soggy side. The sausage was very overcooked. We have eaten at this waffle House previously and everything was great, but that was at a more normal time around 10:00 a.m. this won't stop us from coming back here again in the future, but it will be at more normal hours when the...
