Although they have an excellent variety of kosher foods available, and although the new store is not dirty like the old store was, the customer service is non-existent to terrible. I tripped over a cantaloupe and a basket left in the cashier's aisle by someone unknown. Neither had been picked up by the staff, and I didn't see them because I had an armload of groceries. I had bruises on both legs and was lucky that I didn't fall and hit my head or break a bone. One of the staff, Moishe, expressed no concern at all for my well-being and instead asked me when I showed him the bruises, "Do you want an ambulance? Do you want the EMTs?" He was very patronizing and never asked, "Are you all right?" He also never apologized or expressed any concern. When I said "What if my husband were a lawyer?" then he became interested and said, "Oh, that's what's going on. We need to document this now for legal purposes." It was obvious that customer service and caring was last on his list. I said that it would have been nice to have received an apology, and he said in a nasty voice, "You want an apology? Here's your apology." He was rude and surly. My husband and family have been shopping there for years, but we will never go there again. He needs to attend a workshop on...
Read moreThis place gives me nostalgia for home back in Queens. I love to see all the iconic Jewish pantry items and the fresh cuts of meat and fish. Reminds me of my grandmother and parents back home. I also noticed there is a huge difference in quality between the fish here and in other groceries. My siblings are kosher so I started to shop here after finding it, but when shopping for myself I used to get my fish at Giant, and there is just no comparison in quality. The filets at Giant were thin and poor tasting, whereas at 7Mile they are thick and juicy. My brisket and my Osovo (chollent) were gone in two seconds. Never had to use a container for leftovers! And the snacks are soooooo good and so is their pareve section, I actually found wafers and desserts that were tasty and didn't taste like cardboard. I really recommend this place for anyone like me who is from NYC and misses home, or just wants some great quality kosher food. Parking is always good except the morning of shabbat, and I have tipped the cashiers when they go above and beyond with their service, which happens often. ...
Read moreI'd you did not grow up in an Orthodox Jewish community, it can be a bit jarring to walk in to this place. It's not that the clientele is all that unusual (a wide variety of people shop there). It's more that, except for a few standards, a lot of the brands are likely ones you won't normally see, not even in that small kosher section of the Giant or Safeway. This place is great for what it is, though, which is an exclusively kosher grocery. The selection is huge. Although kosher food is widely available these days, it's nice to be able to find specialty items. It's also a really good place for finding products that incidentally cater to specific allergies. I have been able to find gluten-free and dairy free products there that are not in wide circulation in other grocery chains. Prices are pretty decent. You're paying for a specialty product, so expect some of it...
