Phipps Garden Center — Local services in Pittsburgh

We had our wedding in a smaller venue owned by Phipps known as the Phipps Garden Center in Shadyside last July 28. Although we were initially worried about the fact that it was a secondary site, all our initial worries turned out to be completely illusory. Katelyn, the manager, always made sure that everything was going as planned and that all of our directions were followed. The venue was decorated beautifully. Despite the fact that the room is often used for other meetings related to the garden center, it looked like a wedding venue, as it overlooked a terrace which is right next to Mellon Park. David, from catering, was also very responsible from the beginning and was in charge of the schedule minute by minute. The food (a buffet) was also very good. All our guests, most of whom came from out of state and did not know what to expect from the city, were enchanted by the location and left with a good impression of Pittsburgh. Coming from the UK I had the pleasure of visiting Phipps Garden Center during November leading up to Chistmas time with my family. It was absolutely magical. The effort put into the Christmas theme was just amazing. As I navigated from one area to another it felt like stepping into different worlds at times. The colours were fantastic and I especially enjoyed the Hawaii room which was like being in James Camerons Avatar or something like. They also had a miniature diorama set which was very interactive and made me feel like a kid again. I picked up my order for local plants on May 4, 2024. I’m partially disabled and use a transport wheelchair. The staff was MORE than accommodating. It’s an old building with so much charm but little accessibility. They helped me so much and I’m looking forward to adding new native plants to my garden.
