Despite the promises of better customer care just three weeks ago stated below- there has been no progress towards betterment. I went there tonight- my first time ever in this facility- staff was nice enough at first. Triage Nurse even made a joke about UPMC East being atrociously slow -oh the irony- I have an infection which is causing me to have a low grade fever and a headache that would force you to ram your head through a wall just to get it to quit thanks to the high blood pressure caused by the infection.
I have worked in the medical field -including a hospital ER- so I understand triage and urgency over other patients - I am also USUALLY very patient and understanding of these situations. HOWEVER when several people go in that arrived after you arrive with no serious apparent injuries - unlike the very obvious pain on your face or the large infection you have on your body (of course no one ACTUALLY looked at it so I guess I can't fault them there- AND no one checks on anyone or gives anyone an update- there is a problem.
A woman next to me - had been there for 6 hours- and had only talked to triage. Another woman- 8 hrs. I sat there for 4.5 hrs in pain and as patient as I could be - no one spoke to me. No one asked how I was doing. Nothing. A woman who came after me - whose son or son-in-law knew the security gaurd- she was seen two times in an hour.
Another shot of irony? The words "We care" are printed on a sign in the ER. I will never be returning here - I would rather drive to Passivant in McCandless or heck sit back at UPMC East again- they were slow but at least they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went to the ER Tuesday Evening and was there overnight. I was admitted but there werenāt any rooms so I stayed where I was in Emergency department. I want to acknowledge a couple specific people. Dr Conway. The most thorough doctor Iāve had in a long time and first one in an emergency room. When she heard my history on the problem I have she asked and listened. She had the best bed side manner, she got answers Iāve been asking for years. She said she would get me answers. She did what she said she would and followed through. Iāll say this about the entire team on duty that night, your all awesome! So professional, I never even noticed how busy they were til I couldnāt get a regular room. Cheyenne my nurse⦠she was more than that. She went above and beyond. I was alone and afraid. As busy as they were she helped ease some of my fear and do her job taking care of me. Iāve had so many bad experiences with medical visits but this was by far the best. (If you have to be sick anyway) My IV guy I canāt remember his name (maybe Clint?) not sure and Iām sorry for that , but he was on the wall like employee of month type thing. He let me ramble and ramble and none of them once lost their patience ( in front of me) when I had my biggest meltdown and decided I couldnāt stay. It was too much all around for me and my personal things happening at that time. Cheyenne made sure I knew how important following up on the visit was. I am finally starting to feel better. Antibiotics finally kicking in. I made an appt for Monday. Cheyenne! Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWould give 0 stars if possible. The staff here treat people TERRIBLE. My mother came into the ER on doctors orders in immense pain. She was put in a bed in the ER and was told that they would find her a bed. She was given test after test, when returning from a test she found her bed completely stripped. She stood there with no idea what was going on until someone found her and went "oh, there you are, we don't have any staff to cover there area, wait here," and was sat on a gurney, in her hospital gown, in a hallway. FOR TWO HOURS she waited alone with no blankets, no answers, any time she stopped anyone to try to ask a question she was brushed off. When her husband finally came and found her and brought her clothes they waited ANOTHER HOUR AND A HALF (that's 3 and a half hours total with NO ONE speaking to her), they finally were able to stop a nurse to ask if anyone had spoken to her gastro doctor to give her answers about her the tests she had taken and the nurses answer was "excuse me, who are you and why are you here?" She had not eaten all day except for some powdered eggs with dye for the testing. When she was coming back and found her bed stripped she had been told that they were going to be bringing her food so she could finally eat for the first time that day. She never got to eat. The nurse that left her never told anyone she was there. They left. NO ONE deserves to be left in a hallway, cold, in pain and alone. NO ONE. The staff here should be ashamed...
