Giant Eagle Market District Water Works — Local services in Pittsburgh

Clean, well stocked, and great selections of national and in-store brands.. Beer and wine available too with accommodations for you at their in-store bar area. They always have a tremendous selection in the fresh meat department...and they will cut to order. Fine selections in the prepared food area and they have so many varieties in the deli and cheese sections and their in-store bakery items can't be passed up. You can shop elsewhere but really, why would you want to when everything is right here...along with the store's over-all quality and competitive pricing. If they don't have what you are looking for just tell them and it'll be there on your next shopping trip. Easy accessibility by car and public transportation can drop you off right at the main entrance. There is plenty of parking space (handicap included) and the store has handicap accessibility.. On- site banking, dry cleaning, prescription drugs, PA Lottery and so much more to name a few. I personally shop at several of the Market District stores in the Pgh. area and needless to say, I just naturally like the concept of having everything under one roof and one-stop shopping.. Lastly, the customer service throughout the store deserves mentioning. They give you that little extra that makes you feel like you're special...really! I never like to give out 5 star ratings, but they sure do come close to getting one. PS..I really do like to shop here and am not employed by Giant Eagle....I'm just an extremely satisfied customer. There are 3 tiers of giant eagle. At the bottom you have the small, been around a long time ones that close every night and you'll find in most neighborhoods, the superstore ones like in monroeville that a bigger and better and are 24 hours are the middle runner, and then there's the Market District.

It is 24 hours. It has Scan and go which is the best idea I've ever seen(you scan your advantage card and pick up a scanner in the front, then as your shopping you scan your items as you put them in the cart. At the end you scan the screen at the scan and go stand and it pulls up your entire cart. It has cut ky shopping time down by aroubd 10-15 minutes and I havent had to wait in line to check out ever)These ones are sparse but the put the other two to shame. They have a wider selection of everything. They have more exotic options. They have better produce, meat, and seafood sections. I can't speak for others but this one has a refillable vinegar and olive oil station. A charcuterie section, a bulk nuts/trailmix/candy/coffee section. They have a larger regional(Asian/Mexican etc) selection. They have a beer/wine section-though imo it's not the best place to buy if you're familiar with price. They have a lovely floral section, hot foods, antipasta and salad station. Theres a "starbucks" inside. This is the best grocery store in Eastern Pittsburgh. I should warn you though, once you get used to grocery shopping here, the bottom tier giant eagles are going to do nothing...

Is it worth the price? Highly debatable. They price everything like they're a specialty store, even the same items you'd find at walmart. Definitely DON'T believe the discounts. And if you ask somebody if you have the right item, if that is the one on sale, good luck! Someone just flipped on me for doing that, filing a complaint about her next.

Well, they don't answer their customer service calls so I'll have to just line so I'll just have to continue on here and maybe even go back tonight and either find that worker or someone else. If I go back tonight I'll take pictures specialty you all can see how unclear everything is. Anyway, so I made the mistake of asking for help to identify which os the bags of cherries were on sale. The woman I ask, walks in front of me, ranting, arms flailing around, as she goes to the display, and points in the general direction of all of the bags, I believe to indicate that any of them can be chosen though there are 3 different brands/different packaging then stomps her way back to where she was and I walked out the door buying absolutely nothing.
