Hey Karis — Local services in Plainfield

Karis was our photographer for our fall 2021 micro wedding in Central Park followed by an afternoon tea reception. We had interviewed and vetted a few photographers before choosing her as we liked her style (vibrant photos, photojournalistic with some editorial pieces), she met our budget, and we got along over the phone! She has a dog too so she understood that it was important to us to have a photographer include our dog in the wedding photos! She was very responsive during the planning stages - helping out with an itinerary for first look, giving her thoughts on where to take photos.

On the day of -she was very professional and efficient. She kept us on our timeline. We felt comfortable with the poses she recommend and she also got "in the moment" shots!

We got sneak peek photos less than a week after the wedding and they were amazing! When we finally got the full album, we were very impressed by the photos! We got beautiful posed portraits near Bethesda Fountain but so also captured the mood of the day - cute moments with our dog, our family, and our friends.

I was pregnant during the Covid-19 Pandemic with my third (and last) baby and I was worried I would not be able to capture this special time in my life with my other two children with a photoshoot because of restrictions and of course safety concerns. I had seem some of Karis's work online and decided to reach out to her to see if she would like to work together. It was not a normal circumstance with the pandemic/social distancing, etc and I was able to trust her right from the start. I knew the pics would be amazing even before we took them. She met my family and I at the Watchung Reservation and the photoshoot (even though a hot, sticky July day) had its challenges with two little kids and a very pregnant me, went perfect. The photos were delivered in a timely manner and I loved each and every single one of them. She nailed my vision but most importantly she was wonderful to work with. We did an engagement photoshoot with Karis last fall and she recently photographed our wedding. My husband and I couldn’t be happier with our experience- from the first phone consultation, getting to know each other a bit during the engagement shoot (which was fun, relaxing and professional), and ultimately the gorgeous photos from both the engagement shoot and the wedding.

We were originally drawn to Karis’s work because it is so unique. Her sense of composition and use of light sets her apart. She has a great eye for capturing genuine little moments as well as creating really interesting posed portraits. She quickly and skillfully composes her shots in a way that celebrates her subjects in that moment, time and place- incorporating various elements of the location in meaningful ways.
