We have been shopping at this store for several years. Unfortunately, one bad experience drew me away from the store forever. It was over tandoori naan.
I usually buy the naan from the store as itās made fresh. I noticed it was not in the store where they usually keep the naan. I had asked a few employees in the store. They all said it will take about 20 minutes. They have not started it yet.
My family liked this naan, which is why I felt it was worth shopping for other things for the next 20 minutes in the store. When I went back to check if that bread had come out yet, the employee said you have to check with the bakery or with the cashier. I went to the cashier since I had to go there anyway to check out my other things, and the cashier said you may need to go to the bakery.
I walk to the bakery, and they said you will need to purchase it at the store and we will make it fresh for you. So I walked back to the store to AGAIN stand in line and pay for the bread, and get the receipt. I took the receipt and walked back to the bakery. I told them Iām waiting for the naan, and how long will it take? They said 10-15 min.
I saw that the gentleman who was supposed to make naan was performing salah. I stood there patiently, waiting without making a noise or bothering anyone. I waited inside the bakery because it was very cold outside. As soon as the baker finished performing his prayers, he went and started making the naan. All of a sudden, the owner comes in and says man you may not wait inside here. You will need to go out. I said listen I have a receipt. Iām waiting for my naan to get made. He said, I understand but you have to wait outside and we will call you when itās ready.
At this point, my frustration grew way above level because I was waiting for almost an hour for something that should really take 10 minutes. I scolded the owner that Iāve been waiting for at least 10 to 15 minutes. Why is the bread not ready yet? why is it not inside the store
Apparently, this offended the owner. I was very steamed and I did go off on the owner. I should not have to wait one hour for bread thatās ridiculous. That clearly means you donāt know how to run a store. The store itself inside is super crowded people going to buy just a few things and it takes them at least a half hour just to maneuver through the store.
Coming back to the situation with the owner, as we were walking from the bakery to the store, he snatched the receipt out of my hand and said āletās go I will get you a refund. I donāt wanna deal with people like you. You need to be more polite.ā
I did not even know who this guy was. The way he was talking did definitely did not sound like an owner of any business where heās selling to consumers. I simply said Iām gonna go complain to your manager. Then he stopped and turned around and said āI am the owner of this place, now get out!ā
He said this to me an open public. Even if I was scolding him, I am the customer I was super frustrated that I have to wait for an hour to get bread, and have my time wasted. The very, very, very least he couldāve done is kept his calm and apologized for the long wait. I donāt know who the owner thinks he is.
When you decide to run any business where you are dealing with general public thereās a saying called, āThe customer is always right!ā. If you do not agree with it then donāt do business. Itās that simple.
I am NEVER shopping at Oasis ever again. There are better grocery stores which serve Halal meat offered fresh produce, and give much better customer service than this place ever...

I bought meat from Oasis last week and immediately upon getting home, realized that there was a smell in the meat bags. I didn't think too much and put the meat in the freezer (within 30 minutes of leaving Oasis). I took one of the meat trays out to cook, and there was definitely a strong smell. Rather than risk cooking it, I threw that meat tray in the trash. I also called Oasis and explained to them that I had found bad meat and asked them to check their freezer to make sure it was cooling.
The next day, I took out another meat tray and upon thawing, the same smell was there. Not sure which trays were bad, I decided to return all the meat I purchased on that trip to Oasis.
I called the owner at Oasis and he said to bring the meat in and he would return it. I drove back to the store and was expecting the owner to return (or at a minimum exchange) the meat. The owner asked for a receipt, which I did not have (I don't normally keep meat receipts). He then asks me how did he know the meat was purchased by me and further, if it was from his store. I told him was he accusing me of stealing the meat? Further, the meat trays have Oasis's sticker on them!
He then proceeds to smell the meat and says he can't smell anything. I made him smell it again and also told him he should cook it and eat the same meat tray. He refused. The smell was grossly obvious!
I was now getting irritated. The owner refused to exchange the meat and only credited me the price of one meat tray. I told him I wasn't sure now which trays were bad so I wanted all the trays exchanged for fresh ones. The owner refused.
This was a pathetic example of customer service and for approx. $40, the owner is risking getting someone possibly sick with bad meat. I told the owner that I will be posting this on social media and also calling the FDA for a complaint. It seems that he would rather deal with the FDA inquiry than deal with customer satisfaction. I am a small business owner myself and to me customer service is paramount. I personally would have handled the matter very differently.
I would only advise everyone to make sure they smell the meat trays before...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBeen going here for a year, here's my experience:
Meat is good Meat is however expensive Often times they run out of meat Deli fresh meats too often run out
Bought milk yesterday, they were reselling Sam's club member's mark brand for $5, milk had an expiration date of August 18th, and it was bad
They never have the same brand of things the second time around, includes gummies, sauces etc
The customer base is multi ethnic and a large portion of the customer base is Pakistani, it behooves the workers to familiarize themselves with Pakistani products and their names, especially since they keep those products, workers are clueless when asked and act as if you've named something super foreign, not good business
Naan, is a very popular product even Whites know about and keep in major stores, except the workers in this store
Fruit is below average
A meat shop that's out of meat very often, there's an issue there
Workers have been polite and I've never had a situation where anyone's been disrespectful
This review is based on their performance and quality as a business and not an attack on them individually or collectively
I hope they make some changes professionally, there's a huge potential in profitability if a business is run professionally
People will pay money even if it's expensive so long as everything is tip top and employees are educated about the products that are being sold
If a big portion (if not half) of your customer base isn't Arab, then learn about their preferences and names of the products, that clientele of yours will only appreciate you more and will continue to spend their money on products they prefer which means you should be fully stocked at all (if not most) times
At this point after a year of diligently coming to Oasis I will now look to explore other shops that may provide a better experience, will see what happens...
