It's an updated-style MB, with the Market Kitchen and cafe, etc. Full-disclosure, I'm a Market Basket fan in general, particularly their meats. You pretty much need to go to a local butcher for better meat/fish. Grocery selection is good, but this location seems to run out of things quicker than others. Check-out experience is average, but I tend to go mid-week/off-hours. My only complaints are that (like all stores), they took advantage of the price-hike trends and have failed to lower them in any measurable way. Last week, I spent $160 on 5 bags of groceries/4 days of food. Whether this is them directly profiting or not keeping their suppliers in check, I don't know. Either way, they're far too expensive for a company that used to pride themselves on value and quality. Another little annoyance particular to the Plymouth NH store is that they only put the hand baskets in the middle of the store, in front of the registers, and it's only a single stack for the whole store. I don't know if this store manager thinks it's some kind of brilliant social engineering trick that if people grab carts instead of baskets they'll buy more, or if it's truly just lack of awareness, but when you start upping your game to prepared foods and a higher-level grocery store experience, you're going for people to come in every couple/few days vs once every 2 weeks. Pair that with inflated pricing, and you're really just setting yourself up for people being pissed at the total come check-out time. Put the baskets at the doors like every other Market Basket/store so that people can shop the way they want. You're not being brilliant, your pissing off...
Read more1st off the lady in the pizza area to like 10 min to come out from the back. But I she was alone I let that go.... then I ordered my 1 cheese pizza and went shopping and when I came back 15 min later my bf had to sit there for another 10 min and 2 more people ordered after its but their pizza was made before us. My bf is deaf but can speak and had to keep asking her to or it in the oven. She then got in the phone for another 5 min texting then decided to put our pizza in the oven 35 min after we ordered. Then 15 min later after she answered the store phone and texted on hers and used the same gloves our pizza was ready. Now the grill side... there were three people working and yet the lady before me waited an hour n half for a Ruben and had called in I had 2 numbers ahead of me and still waited 30 min. Instead of running the kitchen proficiently it was a circus. Then a I'm waiting to order my subs a guy stops the grill and starts stopping while they all were talking and laughing which is fine if you still are working... but they didn't and I waited 4 almost an hour for both the pizza and subs. The cashier was so nice and friendly that was refreshing. I called after we left and the manager looked on video saw what we were talking about but didn't offer any type of reasons other than I can't wait to show her a polaroid of herself in the phone on prep area.......
Read moreAt last...our own local Market Basket! After Shopping here now twice and directly comparing my experience to several other New Hampshire Market Baskets they are settling into the “Market Basket” chain image fairly well with a few deficiencies. I grew up in western upstate NY with Wegmans as the store of choice. Wegmans is a Super Market of Super Hero proportions, if you are not familiar. I sense that Market Basket is diligently trying to emulate Wegmans buy making shopping an experience to remember. I have only 2 dings on Market Basket the staff must be more efficient with their own Market Basket product line and be willing to hand escort a customer to that product. And hot food quality must be top notch as I had a “Chicken Bomb sandwich” that was inedible, with awful shelf stable bread and the consistency of the Chicken was as of canned chicken. As for product availability and every other aspect of customer service to previous Market Basket shopping standards, I give it a 10. But , falls short of the Wegmans Shopping standards. I believe every new business has its growing pains. I will wait patiently for that perfect...
