The Market Basket in Plymouth started out pretty good. But they have this thing they do—pulling product up to the front of the shelves—that is now being used to fill out the empty spots. For example, there were six or eight tubes of Quick Oats across the bottom shelf—filling out the area for Quick Oats and Old Fashion Oats. There were no Old Fashioned Oats. Last week there were no Old Fashioned Oats. If you can't find what you're looking for, you're reduced to reading the cryptic shelf tags to insure you do know where stuff is supposed to be and it hasn't been moved just to mess with you. This shelving problem is rampant; I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Light, Old Fashioned Oats, Gorton's Fishwich in the bag, and Good N Plenty (pun not intended). Last week it was Diet Coke with LIme, Velveeta cheese slices, the purple labeled Light and Fit yogurt, Old Fashioned Oats, Chili with Beans... you get the idea—it's not one department. Oh, and while I'm at it, the bags for corn-on-the-cob which are seldom available were on most of the dispensers in produce. This store is on auto-pilot and like the Boeing 737.... the sensor isn't...
Read moreWant to share a recent experience purchasing "Managers's Special" food at this Market Basket in Plymouth. We recently purchased two packs of Perdue Chicken tenders at Market Basket with "MANAGER'S SPECIAL " LABELS on them. On opening the packages it was obvious by the foul smell that the chicken tenders had gone rancid. On further inspection, a second label had been affixed over an original label. After pealing the second label off, the original expiration date of 7/3 /25 became apparent. They were unethically selling this bad chicken with an expiration date of 7/18/25. This goes to the heart of business ethics. If we were entertaining guests that evening, the night would have been a disaster. I blame the managers of this store who promulgated saving rancid chicken and selling it at a lower price as "Managers's Special". Lesson learned. Never buy Manager's Special anything in this store. The managers who allowed this to occur should be selling used cars or slot machines in Vegas. I am deeply disappointed in Market Basket and...
Read moreThis MB is inconsistent with everything. One week a common product is in, the next it's out (for example stoked coffee or half and half). I had a stretch where the produce was either rotten or moldy (bell peppers, garlic, onions & pineapple to name a few) as I cut it the next day or it just looked poor in the aisle. I bought rolls for sausage peppers and onions Saturday and open it today, mold. I went the other week for corn on the cob, rotten. I'm not sure if this is the last stop from the supplier or what.
Other than that staff is friendly, place is usually clean, prices are decent. Their pizza is pretty good, rotisserie chicken is good, albeit a bit expensive for the big bird. I like their pre mades and the apple cider donuts. When it's good it's good but when it's bad, I lose money.
Not on MB, but some of you need to learn to respect other people's property. Someone dents or scratches my truck every single time I go. I do not park like those goobers you see straddling the line. And put away your carts you heathens, you...
