I have changed the rating from 1 to 3 that I first posted. Read this entire tome to understand why. Thank you, First post - If I could give negative stars, I would. My husband and I purchased a massive cast aluminum outside dining table, 8 regular chairs, 2 swivel chairs and a lazy susan from Opdyke Furniture in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ in 2014. We spent over $8000. Last summer (2017), I was sitting outside when my neighbors walked over. I slid the chair back to stand up and one of the chair broke. It would have dumped me on to the deck, but I fell into the chair next to me. When we inspected the chair, it was obvious that the metal had sheared straight through! This was not at a joint! It was the seat! We immediately took the chair back to Opdyke. We were told that the woman who handles this would get back to us. We heard nothing. I called. No response. We went back to the store. The woman was on vacation. We stopped in several more times, to no avail. We stopped in yesterday. We were told by the sales rep that she would put our message on the top of the pile so it would get immediate attention. I received a voicemail today from Audrey. They have our chair. We should take it to a welder as they cannot fix it. Look on the internet for a vendor. End of message. No apology for the length of time to get back to us. No credit for their inferior product. I am so glad that we now know what type of business this is before we bought anything else. This year we have been shopping for a large sectional and some chaise lounges for our deck. Need I say more? Second post - It is amazing how a face to face meeting can change everything. I rushed over to Opdyke, realizing they did not close until 5:30. I wanted my chair back while it had been located. I asked to speak with Audrey. When she came out, I introduced myself and asked her why it took seven months to get such short message? She was a bit taken a back, as she was not really aware of the situation. I explained everything. She could not have been more helpful. She explained that part of the problem is that they do not carry the Beka line anymore. I said that I had expected a phone call or response... an offer of a replacement, a credit, something. She told me they would not pay for the welding. I said that we had spent a lot of money on our set. I described the set we had purchased. She looked us up on the computer, but I told her we were in the old system. She was able to find us. She then called around to the other locations. They are going to see if there is a similar, random, chair to go with this set. Whether or not something is found, Audrey understood. At least she made the attempt to help. Soooo.... note to self.... always...
Read moreMy family has bought patio, porch and sunroom furniture from Opdyke’s for over three generations. Some of the pieces they purchased are still being used by our family to this day due to their high quality. I just purchased 4 Kingsley Bate teak dining and one rocking chair and I couldn’t be happier. Looking forward to many years of use and enjoyment.
A great big thank you to Travis in Pt Pleasant who couldn’t have been anymore helpful and patient with me. Also a thank you to Matt from the warehouse team who happened to be there and helped me to decide on my investment based on his first hand experience.
Looking forward to returning for more great stuff. Thank you to the Opdyke Family for a first class...
Read moreI recently went to Updykes for their Holiday items. As always all their items are beautiful, although on the ridiculously expensive side. However my issue is with their rude and nasty staff. Before they start talking amongst themselves about a customer who is spending money in their store, saying negative and derogatory comments, maybe next time they should wait until the customer and her friend leave the store. Obviously we will not...
