Very clean rooms and grounds. The pool is heated and immaculate...and open until 10pm...it's lighted from the inside of the pool for a moonlight swim...nice touch. Management is a bit on the uppity side, nice, but don't really go out of their way. Continental breakfast is SERVED in the gazebo, next to the pool. No helping yourself to bagels, donuts, crumb cake, and especially coffee. You have to wait to be served, as I learned, when the lady walked away for a few minutes and I went to pour myself a VERY SMALL cup of coffee...It seemed I was being scolded for helping myself, which made me very uncomfortable. The cups were about 5 ounce styrofoam...I'd need 5 of this size in the morning!...ended up walking about 2 blocks to a 7-11 and buying a large coffee for about $2 bucks...Continental breakfast has always been self-serve wherever I've ever been. My 7 year old daughter asked for a plain bagel with butter...there wasn't enough butter on it to butter the head of a pin...she wouldn't eat it, it was so dry. If you're going to offer a continental breakfast, PLEASE allow your guests to fix things the way they want them...it just seemed like this "big feature" of CB was cheap and stingy. Close enough to the beach (about 3 long blocks), but a bit far from the main attractions in Point Pleasant...Boardwalk was a 5-10 minute drive...or you could use the new PP Trolley service, which was confusing and very disorganized...they get kudos, though for trying their best in this, it's first summer of operation. Overall, except for the breakfast nonsense, the PP Manor is a nice motel, just a bit off the beaten path. I would recommend staying here if you can't get anything else closer to the beach, boardwalk and...
Read moreFinding a decent hotel in this part of NJ is a crapshoot. The B&Bs around here (both the traditional and the Air varieties) are usually decent, but SUPER expensive. And that's not even during tourist season. On the other hand, the traditional hotel offerings around are much cheaper, but are usually dumps.
The Manor, however, has always been a reliable go-to for a clean, fresh room at an affordable rate. The location couldn't be better, either. Minutes from the beach, right across the street from the Ark, and a short drive to downtown Point Pleasant.
I had a king suite, which was surprisingly affordable, but still plenty spacious and comfortable. The room was spotless, and everything worked. The beds were comfortable, the linen service was spot-on, the couch was comfy, the fridge was cold, the A/C ran... all the amenities were in perfect working order.
Everything was super clean. Seriously, I've been to 5-star hotels with more dust. The toilet was clean enough to eat out of. Although, the bathroom looks a little... antiquated. But the toilet flushed, the sink ran, and the shower was hot. It certainly didn't keep me from enjoying my stay.
The only complaint I have is that the internet is absolutely atrocious. It's so slow, it's unusable... if it actually bothers to connect. Unfortunately, I had to hop on a conference call for work, and I had to adjust my settings to 144p just to stop the endless buffering. Then, fifteen minutes into the call, the wifi quit entirely. Luckily, I was there for pleasure, not business, so this was really just a super minor bump in an otherwise great stay.
I would highly recommend staying here if you're visiting the...
Read moreGreat photography on property and in specific guest rooms. If they upgraded the rooms to match like the main lobby foyer, you’d be great. It’s a facade. Let me say this, the older guy at front desk thinks he placing you in the Taj Majal and reveres his place as such. It was an impromptu trip to PP and it cost us $636 for 2 nights in middle of summer. I know, I KNOW. IT WAS MORE THAN MY monthly MORTGAGE. BUT a lessoned learned too late. PROS. The beach access is around the corner. The front desk issued discount beach access tickets, but still $10 per person? The convenience store and great restaurants nearby, especially LEONE’S Deli, Shrimp Box. The proximity to the boardwalk! The continental breakfast was enough to get us through a few hours of beach time. CONS: the guest rooms stink of a mold/pine sol combination. Everything in our room was old, furniture from resale shop and dirty bedding. Funny thing was we drove up road to another property and front desk clerk quoted us a HIGHER rate. It’s the hospitality business. Good we didn’t return to the Manor and rate was more. There were all sorts of guests here but I try remember the room is only to rest your head, not permanently...
