DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! ZERO STAR "HOTEL"
incoming long review
(family of 4 traveling - 2 adults 2 children, 15yo & 9yo)
I had booked the Roadway Inn Point Pleasant location for the dates of 6/12/25 - 6/14/25 (fathers day weekend). Upon arrival - we noticed that the outside color didn't match the website - so naturally we thought "maybe they did renovations?" Wrong. When i walked into the front lobby it smelled like a mechanics shop - gasoline & oil. No one was at the front desk or anywhere in eyes sight. I had said hello a few times (loudly) prior to noticing there was a bell they had posted to "ring". Five minutes in and multiple 'hellos' and 'rings' later my husband decided to go walk around the halls to try and find someone. While he was looking i had poked my head in the "breakfast" area (to the immediate right of the front desk) which was filthy and full of boxes. Looks like it is used for storage and honestly hasn't been clean in some time. When he came back he told me the employees were all outside gathered up together under the middle stairways by the rooms in the parking lot. Once the lady came to the desk, she did not greet nor apologize for the wait, which ok sure - whatever. She asks for my name on the reservation etc. etc. .. while she was checking us in i had mentioned that when i booked i chose the room with the option that included breakfast, she said no, no breakfast is served here. I then asked about a refund and before even looking into it or even trying to help she said no, no refund we do not do breakfast. So, i then assured her and showed my email on my phone that i indeed paid for included breakfast. She then looked into my account and said she cant help me as i booked through a third party (Priceline), and i would have to go through them. (Ok, fine - I'll do that, i just wanted to get out of that smelly office anyway! ) I also asked about the pool, she said its not open & wont be for another week or so. Another disappointing moment, especially for the kids. So when she went to go grab a room key she tells me the room number and that we where upstairs, and hands me the room key - which the envelope that the key was placed in looked like it was used multiple times, it was ripped, dirty marks on it - just another thing me and my husband looked at each other like (what did we get ourselves into -_-). As we drove around the side to the rooms (the lot itself it very tight and tiny and hard to maneuver [we have an SUV]), we decided to go check the room out before bringing luggage up. Keep in mind this day, the 12th, the temp was a good 90ish degrees outside, so when we open the door our room smelt horrible - like the gasoline smell from the lobby. The thermostat read of an internal room temp of 88 degrees. The fridge & microwave were dirty. The chair and couch had rips and stains - the bathroom toilet water was murky - white at first then we flushed and it just was dirty water. The tub had a spider and a few ants crawling in it. Hubby checked the bed - the white sheets were not clean, stains, and the over 'comforter' sheets looked very dingey. At that point we were over this entire stay already and decided to turn the air on in the room to cool it down (just in the event we had to stay the bare minimum night there) and go for a walk by the beach while i made some calls to try to cancel my trip and get a refund. While i was on the phone with Priceline, hubby was looking for local hotels with vacancies for the night (at this time it was about 8pm or so). We had found one closer to the beach/boardwalk that still had some rooms, so bare minimum, we had a nicer, safer feeling place to go to. We didn't end up staying here as it just didn't feel safe, it was dirty, and smelt horrible! Please, PLEASE - if you have children - DO NOT STAY HERE!! This place needs new management and MAJOR renovations! Def was not worth the $400+ we spent for only staying a night and a half .. HORRIBLE - DIRTY -...
Read moreVacationers expect to pay a premium for a place to stay down the shore in summer, but the room conditions should reflect a minimum standard of quality that this Rodeway Inn doesn’t come close to meeting.
It is clear this hotel is struggling with keeping up with maintenance and basic supplies.
The person who greeted us was friendly and efficient.
The facility itself is in general disrepair.
We referred to our room as the “poets room” because the matting on a print on the wall was torn and someone actually wrote a poem on it in marker, other folks added their own messages as well. It reminded me more of a lean-to than an hotel room I’m embarrassed I paid almost $300 a night for!!
Our bed had holes in the sheets, the upholstered chair and even the desk chair were in need of deep cleaning or replacement. The drain was partially clogged in the tub and took 20 minutes to drain after a shower. The blow drier was melted and probably played with by kids as there were stickers on it. Even the drawers on the dresser did not close properly.
Outside, there was an incomplete repair job on the stairs closest to our room and a random piece of furniture underneath the staircase.
If the room was less than $100 I might have let it all go and said you get what you pay for… but I’m rambling on because I feel I was totally taken.
Unfortunately it seems the purveyors of this establishment although friendly, are either way over their head or just don’t care so long as schmucks like me hand over the money.
Hopefully this will save someone else … and in the best case scenario, perhaps Rodeway will...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I decided to take a very very last minute trip down to the shore for the 4th of July! I had booked the room on the 3rd and we stayed July 3rd and checked out early July 5th! Because we not only were staying over a holiday weekend but I had booked so late the room was pretty expense but that is what I had expected. Check in time was 4:00 and we had gotten there around 5:00 checked in without a problem and went straight to our room. I went with the king size nonsmoking room and it was perfectly cleaned! I had saw many reviews with pictures of dirty bathrooms, burn holes in the sheets, etc but luckily we did not have one of those rooms (I believe those pictures were smoking rooms) On the description to the hotel they say they are walking distance to the beach unfortunately unless you are an avid walker or maybe a track star you will not want to walk (same goes for the nicer restaurants.) If you are walking to the private beaches where you need the season beach patch or to be meeting people who are renting out on of the houses right on the beach it is only about a 10 minute walk but unfortunately we did not have the patch so we wanted to go to jenkinsons which is a 35 minute walk!! With the beach chairs, umbrella, food and everything else we ended up just driving and payed for parking. Other then the distance from the beach and restaurants I would recommend this motel for anyone going away for a long weekend...
