Very disappointing that they have gone "commercial " though they try to give that locally sourced produce, it's the exact same as they are selling at Walmart and robert supermarket, just tack on a dollar for the show. I went hoping to at least fins some ripe fruit or local delacies, but no luck. The same grown in halabala green fruit that generally spoils from bruising before getting ripe enough to half enjoy. Gone are the days of fruit stands (like when I was a kid in watermelon alley, or Cottondale Florida) when you could buy fresh fruits, ripe and delicious, from local farmers with generations of care and practice in growing the best produce for a fraction of today's prices. Berryland has fresh,locally grown and imported fruit and vegetables. It has plenty of parking for everyone and is easy to get in and out of. The produce is always priced below what the local grocery stores offer. In addition,Berryland has freshly made sandwiches and entrees in their little kitchen. There are also many good frozen dishes like crawfish pie,boudin,complete dinners.Frozen fruit that's been cut and peeled in a bag that can be eaten on the go. Dried beans and peas,and lots of different potatoes: (new,russet,white,baking) It's high ceiling and large fans keep it comfortable in the hottest summer or coldest winter days. I'm a recent expat moving home. Rouses was not here then, but it's my new favorite place to shop. Fresh warm French bread, in house cooked meats like beef brisket that's hand carved with fat cut off ( though there wasn't much) BEFORE its weighed!! All types of local food products like hot boiled peanuts and pickled vegetables like okra and Italian cookies to local wines and beers. It also has a place to order a hot lunch or fresh made sushi & enjoy it right there. Be sure to visit!! You will not be disappointed!!...
