Dollar General — Local services in Pontiac Township

Very rude staff and or management, we just moved in a new place so we figured to shop around for some kitchen things we forgot like a pitcher for tea /khool aid , we go in and before we start looking my boyfriend asked if they have them to save waisted time..the cashier Judy I believe (that’s her name tag ) snapped to my boyfriend ” does it look like we have a kitchen section? “ then scoffed .My jaw dropped …My boyfriend proceeded to look despite her being very rude , I stood up by the counter on my phone while he looked (it’s a small store ) so as he keeps looking I hear her SAY to ANOTHER CUSTOMER!! “ what’s the matter with him he can’t read then laughed “”!!!! My jaw dropped YET AGAIN I’m lookin at her at this point , I said to her if this is how you treat people you must not get a lot of business told my bf let’s go then proceed to walk out the door empty handed and appalled. hands down worst customer service who are you ON THE CLOCK to DEGRADE a customer...

I am real burned with Dollar General! The one in Minonk, Illinois consistently has breakdowns so that you can't use the coupons electronically. The one in Pontiac, Illinois is always filthy, their people are snotty and they won't help you. The bathroom is horrible. The one in Altamont, Illinois, is clean and friendly however, DG lied to their customer! They offered $15 off a $50 purchase. I get to the counter with my 50 something dollars+ and there's a small piece of paper taped on the side of the pole where one generally can't see it, saying they have retracted the offer! So what am I supposed to do, put everything back? Especially when I have four grandchildren in tow with me! Bad for you DG, I'm done. I'm going to Dollar Tree...

Although crowded and a little dark. D.G. has upped its game and is an easy and convenient place to run in and get out quickly. 2 litres of soda are frequently on sale and the grocery side is full of name brands as well as some brands you've never heard of. Campbell's soup for instance, though a little limited in selection is well priced, often beating out the other competitors in town. Possibly the best place for OTC medication in price. Small craft section has good prices on...
