TOURISTS BEWARE! Visited this place this week and discovered a few unpleasant things, all thanks to Evelyn's Seafood Market. We purchased what we assumed were two pounds of 30-35 count gulf shrimp. We brought them home to have a steak and shrimp dinner. After taking an hour to peel and devein 18 shrimp (arthritic hands make the process slow). They were kept on ice throughout. We were shocked at the DISGUSTING flavor of the shrimp. It was a sludgey, muddy, with a hint of raw sewage mouthful. It was bad enough to make you puke. We called and were told to bring them back. We did and were given a full refund. The kicker to this tale of bad shrimp business is that the woman who gave me the refund proceeds to tell me that I should have not bought farm-raised shrimp. Excuse me? You are in a seafood market right on the bay and you sell farm raised shrimp in your case? I had heard that farm-raised shrimp was gross & now I know it isn't. It is far worse. First, the young woman behind the counter was very gracious and friendly, so 5 stars for her, but I had a 1-star reaction to the discovery this was not a restaurant at all.
