I went into the urgent care for the first time yesterday. I had cellulitis wich developed on my upper left side and had become pretty infected and painful. The Doctor saw me and told me she didn't want to lance it and gave me two antibiotics to attack the infection. She told me if it didn't get better in a few days to come back. This morning the infection had spread to the front chest muscle and was very painful. I called Urgent care to speak with a nurse and get advice on whether I should come back in or give the antibiotics one more day to work. I have a large insurance deductible and really can't afford to go to the Doctors unless absolutely necessary. I never received a call back. I called again towards the end of the day and was told "we are very busy, the nurse will call you when she calls you". How dismissive and frustrating! Over an abundance of care I went to St. Anthony's ER. I was seen immediately and because of a heart health history and some chest pain they performed an EKG showing an elevated heart rate and mild tachycardia. A possible sign of sepsis starting to develop. The Dr. Explained without first lancing the abscess the antibiotics could not fight the infection. If I had waited one more day it could have been very serious. It is now 11:05pm and I never received a callback from urgent care or Harrison. The level of incompetence by the Harrison PO Urgent Care staff is astounding and truly put my life in danger. Why the Doctor would not lance a large cyst and does not understand that stand alone antibiotics would be insufficient is dumbfounding. St. Anthony's on the other hand gave me phenomenal care. Needless to say, I will never step foot in a Harrison Hospital facility again. You would have better luck getting medical care from Ronald McDonald. Tomorrow Harrison administration and I are going to have a long conversation and they better not bill me. Do yourself a favor. Run far away from Harrison Urgent Care Port Orchard! I wish I could give them a...
Read moreDo not go here if you are not local. You cannot call in if you have issues or need to talk to someone on the phone! I stopped in for a pre travel covid 19 test. The staff members were polite, efficient, and helpful with getting me set up and administering my test. That is where the positivity ends. After waiting a week for my results (my wife got her test results back in two days after getting her co-19 test done in Alaska where the tests are shipped to california and processed), I finally called. There is no extension on their phone line that allows to you to speak to anyone. Every single one takes you to a voicemail about 95 percent of the time. I left numerous voicemails and have yet to receive a call back (currently 10 days from first voicemail and no call). When I finally did get through to someone I explained that my test results had not been uploaded to their "my chart" app. They told me my results and that it was the apps fault and that i needed to contact them for documentation of my results. The My Chart app evidently employs people to answer phones so I was able to talk to several people and we determined that my results have not been released to the app. Back to square one. No way to get through on the phone to anyone at the hospital/urgent care clinic. The lab that does the tests answers the phone, my chart support answers, but not the clinic and evidently there isn't anyone processing voicemails that are left. People are putting their lives on hold while they wait for their results and the black hole in customer service is unacceptable. If you are local you could stop back by the urgent care facility and straighten this out, but even then that's not ideal. As a side note, through this experience I have learned that there are several reliable home test options for covid...
Read moreI went to Urgent Care after 5pm as I was having a minor issue and was concerned as I was going to altitude the next day. The visit resulted in them telling me that altitude was not an issue and recommended an over-the-counter treatment. A week or so later I went to an in-network specialist who resolved the issue in 10 minutes for $136 ($95 with insurance). For the Urgent Care visit, I was charged per their coding for $592 for operating room service, $333 for new level 2, and received a separate doctor charge for $190 ($120 with insurance). None of the charges were explained to me, and I was never in an operating room. Later, I find out that there is a flat negotiated rate for urgent care visits (approx $900 for my insurance), regardless of the issue, and can have separate billings. In researching code S9083, it is a case rate code that is negotiated with insurance companies regardless of procedure complexity and typically bundles all costs, but apparently not in my case when I was billed separately for the doctor. S codes are never billed to Medicare and are requested by and exclusively used by private sector payers. In conclusion, you MUST UNDERSTAND YOUR INSURANCE or be charged nearly $1,000 for something treatable for less than $200. The Multicare Indigo Urgent Care in Gig Harbor has a much better rating, and I will be asking them pointed questions regarding their billing practices in hopes that there is an alternative to the Harrison Port Orchard urgent care (Virginia Mason Franciscan Health system). From what I understand, it seems Harrison could have coded my visit differently and chose not to. It will be interesting to see how Multicare handles their urgent care charges from private...
