We were treated like total garbage. Me and my girlfriend live in the neighborhood so this is our local gold store. My partner just came back from out of state after losing her father and finishing the closing of his estate, which, partially, consists of gold bullion and jewelry. He wished her to liquidate a portion of it as she has needed certain things she hadn't been able to afford. When she got back, we took it to their "reputable" business. During the entire transaction, the arrogance and disregard for our visit was overwhelming. My partner and I have no idea on pricing and premiums of precious metals, as we are but everyday citizens. I asked about spot pricing and her answer to me was I could expect to be paid in the tune of 78% of spot price. Luckily, we held off on selling a significant portion of her inheritance and only conducted around $500 in the transaction, as I have learned since then that 78% of spot price is an extremely low-ball offer and we most definitely should have refused. Well, me and my partner will be selling our gold to a real reputable business thank you. Our whole experience with them left us feeling disrespected by their arrogant attitudes and swindled to top it off. After a prior positive test experience, I attempted to sell some bigger heirloom pieces here, and was then informed that all my diamonds but one tested as fakes. Knowing this to be untrue, I took that same batch to an actual jewelry store and made the expected thousands of dollars from the sale.

I can only assume PGE was trying to get the pieces from me without paying fair market for my GIA appraised stones, or maybe they have faulty equipment, or incompetent staff. It’s not for me to say. But there was an absolute disconnect of honest discourse. So, buyer beware. They only got the second star because they DO offer good prices on gold exchange.

In addition, the manager, who I was working with, got up suddenly halfway through our transaction and swapped out for another worker, saying he had other work to be done. A few minutes later, I saw him walking with a coworker back from the minimart, laughing it up, as I was leaving. I’ve never felt less valued in my life. I’ll never be back here, but the jewelry store...

I came in recently for a quote on an old family ring, and Kristen was so professional, kind, and informative. She tested the ring and the diamond in front of me and explained everything clearly. She also informed me that if I got a gemological report on the diamond, the price of the diamond would increase. Like, who does that? That really feels like going above and beyond.

Although they don’t currently have a gemologist, Kristen did share that she’s currently studying to become one herself, and will be offering diamond grading services in the future. I’m honestly thinking I may just hold onto this ring and come back when she’s certified and I can be one of her first customers! Like I said: besties.
