Great sales, they use a color tag system. Most days have a color on sale. Decent pricing. Had a serious problem with one lady, she accused me of bringing my own tags and was prejudice against me because of the number of children I have. Our very first conversation went as follows: her- "are all those yours?" Me- " yes they are mine, we're just missing one, my eldest. He's 13" her- "Are you crazy?! We were talking about you and we just couldn't believe they were ALL yours! You're just too young!" Me- deadpanned "no. I'm not crazy. I'm married." Also me- "guys, look she didn't mean it like that. I'm not crazy for having you and no one thinks you guys are a problem." Yup. Had to cover for a horrible stranger to my children because I didn't want them hurt by this kind of stuff yet. They're so little, let them be valued loved kids first. Next visit I tried to buy a bike for one of my older boys, left the others at home- I didn't want them to see that kind of ugly again- another staff member took the tags off and left them by the register for reference later when I was ready to check out. That's where the woman who had a problem with us came into play. She tried to over charge me claiming twice they don't have those color tags, the higher price was what they charge for all bikes, and insinuated I brought the colored tag myself. I refused to buy the bike at the inflated price and finished up the transaction as silently as possible. I had pressed the issue but again asserting myself twice clearly and politely did nothing, and this is not a battle I need to fight on the daily. I know this woman DOES NOT represent this place at all. I get this kind of treatment every so often, especially when buying food, but I gotta say I was shocked to be getting that here. It's very family oriented place. There's a lot of people that work there besides that chick and they are all beyond reproach. Professional, kind, hard working, everything you'd expect from this town. Anyways, my boy started to quiet cry once we were in the parking lot, man I did that a lot growing up to an immigrant mother dealing with this same stuff- I couldn't take it happening to my boy that day, so I told him I'd try again. Gave him the prejudice lecture (ie people hate and that's a thing in our world) and then gave it another go. We took pictures of everything outside with the same color tag (pretty much everything outside from golf clubs- they have A BUNCH of really nice sets for cheap- to the toys like toddler and older children's bikes.) and went back inside. The prejudice woman was deliberately avoiding the register when we walked in, and there were two other employees there. I asked to deal with her since she's the one we had the issue with and the one at the register said it wasn't necessary. She apologized there was even an issue since she was the first one who took the tags off in the first and didn't need to look at my pictures. After that I paid what was on the tag and was helped with loading my truck. Again, my problem was an ugly one, but I've never had this problem here before and I highly doubt I will again. There's just too many good people there. Twin wood bed I bought was crazy cheap fyi, clean. Missing one nut, easily replaced and so worth it...
Read moreIt has been 9 months and I can still remember everything that happened that day and the way I was treated. I have not stepped back into the store since then and I probably never will. This was the third time that I was treated like c**. I used to frequent the store nearly weekly. On this day, while I was checking out someone working there was helping and was speaking with me and my daugher who was with me and while someone else was ringing it up. When it was time to pay I didn't realize that the order was $50 over what it should be. I just was confused as to why my card was being declined. I asked the cashier if she could put my order on hold or cancel it so I can see what may be going on. She told me no and apparently she did not have time for that. She took money from a customer to finish paying for my order WITHOUT asking me, by the time I realized what had happened it was already complete. I rushed out the door and into my car embarrassed that somebody was paying for my stuff, my card was being weird , and a fussy toddler who really wanted a nap. I figured i'd deal with whatever was going on with my card when I got home. When I got home from my 30 min drive I realized what had happened I called and told them that their were 5 $10 charges on my receipt of things I didn't get. I had nothing that was even close to that amount. I was told to bring EVERYTHING back and they will see. So I did just that loaded back up my toddler who still hasnt had a nap everything back into my vehicle and back for the 30 min drive to make it before closing time. I got back to the store and went in. I told them what had happened. The lady (idk if she was an assistant manager or what) told another employee she will have to wait because she had to deal with me. Which didn't set well and upset me. It was rude to say. I told her and that was fine until she put me on display, at the other register while my kids crying im already upset and telling them the situation and they start arguing with me and yelling at me its my fault. The assistant manager I guess is emptying out every box unwrapping every single item as slowly as possible as everyone's staring at me and my crying child like we stole something. Finally after unwrapping everything and not rewrapping it she decides the reciept is true and I WAS over charged. Not only that she took money from a stranger that I can't even pay back now. The other lady is saying that was my fault as I say that they took money from a stranger as well. I said Im sorry I'm having a rough time and dont have any help with anything and my kid is crying and she said yeah im a single mom too. Im not tho she just assumed. Finally got my money back on card after they had to get another lady to do it. I toss everything back into the boxes, not wrapped because im finally getting out of the store and back to my car. Fumbling a kid and buggy the boxes fall in the parking lot everything I just bought breaks and then as I am bawling cleaning it up a random man trys to hand me money. I did not accept, I told him no thank you I was just having a bad day. I wouldn't have accepted the first strangers hand out as well. I call my husband on the way home to tell him the situation and bawl for the...
Read moreUpdated: October 12, 2022. It has gotten a lot better they have released some employees and hired a lot more employees. Will continue to update my experience.
For the passed year or so I have went to the Resale Barn at least every 2 weeks and spend at least 30 to 50 max dollars each and every visit. But this Friday was my last very last time. It was a round closing I was in line to check out as usual, but this time there employees were just out of line very rude. It was a man and a woman. {Ok First I do understand by the end of the day everyone is tired and ready to go home.} So this was my experience on this visit. The male employee would repeatedly complain (under his breath I was able to hear him) For what I am guessing.
There was about an older gentleman not existing the store quick enough for this male employee. The older gentleman was not bothering anyone or holding up the line. All that he was doing was gathering himself and putting his belongings back in his walle. He had his bags on the glass counter top closet to the front door. The male employee was already checking me out, so the older gentleman was not the reason for this male employee to do his job and check me out he was already doing that so there was absolutely no reason for this male employee to be btching about the older gentleman. PERIOD Ok so moving I say about the middle of checking out the woman took over. I was purchasing a dollar bag of clearance clothes and your was some kids socks and underwear for a friend's grandbabies anyways. She started to btch to me that she has repeatedly told me that socks and underwear are not clothing! (WHAT!!!) So then she corrected herself and said that only the hanging clothes are to go in the dollar bag. Well ok that could be understandable. If there was a sign posting anywhere or somewhere in the same proximity where the clearance hanging clothes are, well because they also keep the box of clearance undergarments under the rack of hanging clearance clothes that are located in the back of the store not where the keep the non clearance clothing or undergarments. First off this woman has never told me such anything, Reason being I have never purchase clearance undergarment that I put in clearance dollar bag. (All this besides the point.) I can understand with what all employees anywhere and everywhere had or have to put up with for the passed 2-3 years or so can be alot, but this woman made me feel as in since I may not have funds (from what I can only guess) to be able purchase some kids socks and undergarments (my son is 21 and headed to college in Arlington. I could only wish that I could purchase his type of undergarments a bag full for a dollar). I did not deserve some kind of respect. I worked at Wal-Mart for many years when I was younger. And there motto, is that the customer is always right. In what so every do I believe that this correct. So I do understand how frustrated that you may feel at the end of a long day. I'm sorry to those employees that do get sh*t on by that ungrateful customer.
No kind of saving is worth that type of feeling so to the Resale Barn Thank You, but...
