Costco Car Wash — Local services in Poway

Costco car wash was the only automated car wash I used to trust. Not anymore.

After last wash my car came out with scratches on one side. I personally inspected car before and found scratches right after car wash because I towel dry car at the spot. They started on my fender and continued all the way to front door while staying at the same height. The pattern suggests it was rotating brush.

I believe either rotating brush was out of place or something might have stuck in there. I also noticed that there were no cars in front of me and attendant didn’t start the system until my car was already in there. That could have explained why scratches subsided past front door and back of the car was ok.

This car hasn’t been to any other automated car washes. I only do hand wash after this accident.

You really can't be a Costco Car Wash. At $8, you get a wash that is better than any automated wash at any gas station. And the wash is even better than Soapy Joe's, which charges over $25 for essentially the same wash, if not lesser of a wash. If you want the vacuum, just buy a cordless. At Costco pricing, you pay for the vacuum after a few washes.

For those particular to the wash, Costco actually takes request on what to leave out. Yes to both... $8 gives you everything, and you can decline the tire shine for those worried a out wheel/rim scratches. They typically don't happen unless the car in front was a total mess, but we get it that it's your car.

The guy who was running this was THE BEST, nicest, friendliest, coolest guy… super customer service! And the place was packed, he was slammed… but he still made time to also help people who didn’t know how to use the credit card machine!!!
