This will be a review of my experience with the owner of Louisville Computer Repair, Steve Richardson, and his employee and technician, Carmen. My review centers around the professionalism of the owner and the integrity of his technician, and is based on my interactions with them at their store. The following is a summary of my review, with details, and picture evidence, to follow soon.
Although I do not have a basis to gauge his technological/computer knowledge or competence, Carmen, when alone, was welcoming, professional, and eager to help. However, his integrity is a liability! Upon accidentally damaging the product (video game controller) that I brought in for modification (replacement of functional thumbstick module with a newer one), Carmen outright lied to the owner about the initial condition of the product. He repeated these lies in the presence of the owner when I went to go pick up my newly-damaged product. I have a voicemail from him, admitting that he broke the product, which I will post in my full review. He appeared visibly shaken when I went into the store as the owner was sitting adjacent to him. My interaction with them included additional blatant lies and misrepresentations by Carmen.
I am also unable to grade the owner, Steve, on his technological expertise or competence. However, in my interaction with Steve, he was extremely unprofessional, argumentative, deceitful, and a pseudo-intellectual. During my first, and only, interaction with him, he began by making false claims about the product’s initial condition, stating conjured up rules and regulations (an intimidation tactic, I suppose), mentioning that the product was not stock, and also, that I did not warn them (as if I were there for warranty-related work; and not only did Carmen and myself have a lengthy conversation about the product’s modified condition, I stood there with him and helped him take the product apart to work on it), and then proceeded to threaten me by claiming to have recorded the phone conversations between myself and Carmen. Within literally 3 minutes of not being able to converse based on facts and logic, and realizing that “legal jargon” was not having its intended effect, he appeared frustrated, walked over to the main door and stated “this is a lawful order to leave.” He repeated that phrase twice, in succession, and I made my way out of the door, without resisting. My only reply to him was “you’ll be hearing from me,” to which he jabbed back by saying, “I look forward to it.” His defensive/argumentative tone, from the moment I walked in, was a preemptive attempt made out fear of me wanting compensation for the accidental damage. All I expected was honesty, and maybe a small apology, and I would have been content. I am a physician in Louisville, and as physicians, we make frequent unintentional mistakes, and at times, blunders. Patients are usually always understanding and forgiving of mistakes when you are open and truthful with them; and we appreciate that! As such, I am accepting of unintentional mistakes, as long as one takes responsibility for them. ESPECIALLY, when it’s just a just a freaking video game controller!
Overall, Louisville Computer Repair may still be a great place to take your minor computer-related products/issues. I cannot grade their tech expertise or the competitiveness of their prices. However, I would HIGHLY discourage trusting them with expensive/valuable electronic equipment. There are several local alternatives to this store, with some listed in my detailed review. Local small businesses, such as Louisville Computer Repair, are the backbone of the U.S. economy, and should be supported. However, irrespective of the size, all business entities must be held to a certain level of integrity and ethics. As someone with a business degree from the University of Kentucky, I am extremely dissatisfied with the integrity of Louisville Computer Repair’s owner and technician and disappointed with their unethical behavior model towards consumers. I recommend that you take your valued...
Read moreAfter taking my computer to three different computer repairman professionals after Louisville Computer Repair, I can confidently say that Louisville Computer Repair and its owner Steve destroyed my laptop (this is all three computer repairman's words not mine), and I would urge anybody who isn't familiar with computers AND ESPECIALLY OLDER ADULTS to not visit this place.
I visited Steve for an issue with my video. It was a simple strip connector issue. He charged me $75 to plug in a cord (my strip connector). However it's what he did to my laptop afterwords that baffles me. -He broke my wifi card, one of the computer repairman told me it had looked damaged from a force removal. I had never had issues with my wifi card until I brought it to Steve's. He then later told me that the wifi card wasn't getting sufficient power to run it and I would need to order a new wifi card. I was then told by all three repairman afterwards that this is NOT a thing. Wifi cards require almost no power or very little to operate. -He removed my battery. By doing so he said that my battery had to be removed because of BIOS. However, he broke my power button and changed my settings to "power on automatically at hookup" (essentially he broke the power button and removed the battery claiming my battery wasn't working and it would always have to be plugged in.) He then suggested I purchase a new battery. My computer WILL NOT turn on now unless it is plugged in because he broke the power button (the actual button itself), and although it's 9 am on a Saturday and my laptop is plugged in it still will not turn on. -the screws were damaged and one of the other computer repairman thinks he used the wrong tool to remove them because they are chewed up. (and a few are missing). I know this was a result of Steve because the screw near the wifi card was damaged and he is the only one who has worked on that).
I don't know much about computers. When I visited Steve I went in for a simple problem to connect my strip connector and now as a result I can't get my wifi on, my battery is gone, the physicalpphysical button is broken, and SOMETIMES my computer turns on. Also, I forgot to mention that Steve tried to get me to purchase his desktop computer saying it was "good for gaming." (Hint, if he tries to convince you to purchase the desktop in the corner of his office DO NOT budge.)
Oh, he charged me $175 bucks to essentially break my computer. The other computer repairman I visited afterwards said it costs $15 to connect a strip connector. DO NOT...

I apologize for my enthusiasm, but it's without a doubt true.
As an owner of a Titan GT76, having it run at 30FPS was bemusing. I rarely post reviews unless I am more than satisfied with a company and their services. I was disgruntled by the performance of my laptop, when it has the equipment of a beast-like desktop. I'm a gamer, mod creator, writer, and during COVID these things have kept me sane. Well, long story short, it started under-performing... bad. I went from the provider, to websites with computer programmers, but I came out with many more questions and not enough people to answer them. Louisville Computer Repair was my last resort, or I had to say goodbye to my Titan and the two terabytes of data with it. They spent more than a generous amount of their time helping me. They understood my situation, and took great care in examining my problem and working with me to find a solution. Even when my computer reverted back to the original graphic settings and it started acting up again, Steve called and reassured me that he would assist again even after I had already gone in once. Not a measly five minutes either, but for two hours! This company clearly cares for its customers, and if something goes wrong, they are happy to once more work it out. My laptop is in great hands, and I cannot thank you all enough for helping me realize that I didn't need to drop five thousand more dollars for a new computer like others have told me. It's been running smooth ever since my call and screen share with Steve! Again, I cannot thank this...
