Living in the East Bay of Rhode Island, i have many choices in finding appliances, new and used, for my home. Short time ago, a good and trusted friend recommended that I take the drive into Providence and check out Danny's Appliances on Academy Ave... well, I cannot tell you how completely and totally pleased I am that I followed his advise. At Danny's I found a great selection of used appliances in perfect condition, and a wonderful staff of floor people, sales and support are helpful and caring people to assist in the selection and pricing etc... but it doesn't stop there. The delivery and installation was speedy, convenient, polite and professional. I 've made three purchases there so far ...Washer, stove and freezer...and I intend to be returning soon to suit my new Laundry area with additional Washer/Dryer... at Danny's it may be used but there's always something new... go there to just browse... The lovely ladies (and I do have my favorite) that work "behind the counter" are just wonderful in every way... I cannot express how pleasant they have been to do business with, and how I actually look forward to return at any further appliance needs...or just drop in to say hello to the folks that have been so good to me. Thank you Danny's Appliances for making a chore into a very pleasant experience... 5 stars plus. Tell all your friends, because I intend to tell mine. Thanks to Devon Santos and Yancarlo Ramirez for the speedy and punctual and professional delivery of my Appliances and for helping me with courtesy and friendship... Bravo!!!!

This place is a horrible place. They never answer their phone. And horrible horrible service. Please go somewhere else if you value your time and money. Today we confirmed with the customer care over text they are open until 7pm. We got there at 6:30pm, but are told people already left early and cannot process anything for us. There is a girl with super long hair and an old guy who walks by with a dog (he said he’s been there 30yrs) who are both super rude and refuse to do anything for us. Just downright lazy and irresponsible. At one point they almost shut the door to our face. We drove an hour to get there for nothing despite confirming their hours in advance. They just decide to pick up and not work and leave customers by themselves. If you are the owner and read this, wake up because your employees are lazy. I will never ever come back here and I’m sure you lost many customers this way.

Great staff. Didn't just sell me a wall oven I was ready to buy, told me to make sure it would fit so I didn't have any issues. After moving into my new house and getting the rough opening enlarged slightly I bought the oven and had it delivered. Delivery guys were great too. This is a used place but the oven looks brand new inside, just some scratches on the outside, probably a customer return at a big box store after it for scratched on delivery. Very happy with it, and saved a ton over buying it brand new. Will definitely be coming back to buy a dish washer and other appliances I need to get.

DON'T BUY FROM THEM, unless you know how to hook up everything yourself and are able bodied enough to do so! We bought a dryer from Danny's. They delivered on time. When they went to install it, they said the existing hose was damaged and not installed properly, which was true.

They said we would need another hose to connect the new dryer. They claimed we should have ordered it at the time we bought the dryer. So, we took the hit on the chin, and they charged us an additional $130 to come back out and attach the new hose. They did do a good job cleaning up the mess that was there, and fixed the outside where the air comes out. I justified the additional $130, because there could have been a house fire if the lint wasn't cleaned out.

I noticed my house was filling up with condensation. The hose had popped off the back of the dryer. I was going to call a handyman, but my daughter called Danny's back, since she placed the original order. In the meantime, I pulled the dryer out and saw they neglected to install a hose clamp and that's why it popped off.

My daughter (who has purchased SEVERAL items from Danny's) called them, and they said they could come out tomorrow. If it is service-related, they'll cover it. If not, they will charge us $50 just to come out. This was after they had her on hold where they state they stand by their delivery and service. I could see if they hadn't come out a second time, but MORE money on TOP of the purchase price AND the $130?

Really?

I'm so upset and frustrated over this. Not only will I never buy from them, I'll make sure no one I knows ever does either.

I'm on my way to Lowe's to get the clamp and fix it myself. Hey, Danny's, a quick customer service call WITHOUT an additional charge would go a loooooong way after you've already been out twice.

RESPONDING TO RESPONSE BY OWNER: You are absolutely correct. Maybe your staff should be trained to respond differently. Had she said, "Since you purchased the brand new appliance from us, and then we went back out and installed from the back of the dryer all the way to the outside vent, I'm sure it's something small we can take care of. We'll be back out tomorrow." Instead, we were told if it wasn't something related to the install, we would be charged $50 JUST for the call. How could it NOT be related to the install if it was all fixed by you? It's basic common sense.

Had she responded the first way, my review would have been completely different. I understand completely that your technician quite probably helped us avoid a house fire; however, the clamp was not placed on the vent, my house filled with humidity and lint, and I have breathing issues. It's dangerous.

At the very least, if a customer calls back only a few weeks from an install, maybe the person answering the phone can consult with you before she gives an answer that you want even MORE money. People go to Danny's to SAVE money. The price of the appliance + $130 because the tech didn't have the parts in the van + the threat of another $50 after just having purchased the house makes people panic. Just go fix it. Is $50 really worth all this trouble?

I'm sorry if you feel insulted, but I'm just stating facts. Good luck with your business. I have no hard feelings against anyone. Just please ask the person answering the phones to check with you first in...

EDITED from 1 star to 3 stars. The company eventually did get us a working unit after the two failed ones.

I'm usually very graceful with companies, but this has been a HORRIBLE experience with this company. Installed two broken dishwasher units in our home and the installer took off from our home today after he knowingly installed a broken unit.

A few weeks ago our landlord purchased a replacement dishwasher from this company as our old one had died. They scheduled us for an installation a week later. I would've liked it a little sooner as we have two babies under two + a 12 year old (so tons of dishes), but totally not a big deal. Installation day comes and they install the dishwasher. All seems well until we run it the first time. Dishes came out a little dirty. Disappointing, but not a huge deal. THE VERY NEXT DAY, I attempt to run it again with it not as full, it stops halfway and begins to run an error code with a blinking light and keeps turning back on when you try to shut it off.

We call them to come out and look at it because we just had it installed and they can't come for another week. OK cool. When they come the next week they look at it and say they can't replicate the error and to call back if it began to do it again and they could come back. The technician leaves and less than a half an hour later it starts the blinking error code again. We call and a woman on the phone says the technician can't come back today and we'll have to wait 5 more days for someone to come out. Totally ridiculous. Eventually they tell our landlord that it would be better for them to just replace it rather than try to fix it.

Flash forward to today, 5 days later. They come and remove the old unit and install another one. After the technician installed it, he tested it and said that he couldn't get it to work. I'm sitting with my two babies, so he's communicating all of this with my husband. The installer takes a phone call outside (I'm assuming to call about the non-working unit he just installed) and my husband stepped inside to wait. Ten minutes later my husband asks me if they talked to me before they left. The technician left the broken unit installed and left our house without letting either of us know what's going on.

We've now been without an operational dishwasher for several weeks and this has been a completely disappointing experience with this establishment. I have videos of both non-working dishwashers. My husband is currently expecting a call back from management to figure out what is going on, but other buyers should be aware of how much of a hassle this experience has been with this company and their poor customer service practices. I'm truly hoping they'll somehow try to...

UPDATE 4/25: Two years later, I have also purchased a refrigerator and another washing machine from Danny's. The fridge had problems that required two tech appointments to fix. Danny's stood by the product and fixed it free of charge within the warranty period. The original washing machine purchased two years ago broke and it could not be repaired because the broken part was no longer available. I bought a second washing machine to replace it, but it never worked correctly (stopped mid-cycle, would just start running randomly and had to be unplugged, leaked water, etc.). Danny's replaced this with one that works within their warranty period after trying unsuccessfully to repair it, so things worked out. However, three out of three products purchased had problems. The first washer only lasted two years. Most concerning is the fact that once you buy an appliance, you cannot return it. Danny's will fix it free, but if it continues to break and the warranty period ends, you might get stuck with it. When dealing with used machines, there should be a money back guarantee that extends through the 30 day warranty period. If Danny's had this, I would feel more comfortable, but I would be cautious about buying any products from here now as I cannot be certain things will work out. Danny's did make things right, but it took some convincing on my part to get that to happen.

I bought a refurbished washer and refrigerator for my mother from Danny's. First of all, when you walk in, it is not like I expected: it looks and feels like a NEW, not used, appliance store: clean, well lit, with nice looking merchandise. There are professional, well-dressed employees behind the counter who handled my transaction quickly and efficiently. Danny's delivered and installed the appliances quickly and with no hassle. The selection is large and the prices are low. The refrigerator did have an issue: it ran hot and cold in some spots, causing some food to be lukewarm depending on where it was located in the appliance. I called Danny's and they had good customer service; they quickly dispatched a repairperson and the problem was solved, at no cost to me as it was within their warranty period. This sounds like a negative, but to me it is a positive for this reason: used appliances might well have some issues, and good customer service these days can be hard to find, but Danny's made it right and both appliances have worked perfectly since then (it's been two years for the washer and one for the fridge). I see no reason to shell out 3-5 times the money for a fancy new appliance that will likely break within 4-7 years of purchase when I can just get a solid, old-school appliance from Danny's that will probably...
