Filed Arizona Attorney General complaint about them, they need to have these on notice. Big Market falsely advertises prices lower than charged at register, refuses to honor the advertised price, prices charged at register are twice of prices on stickers attached to the items advertising their pricing. Verbally abusive, harasses customer for asking to honor the advertised pricing, says he doesn't need to honor advertised pricing, this is a fraud and is abusing the public (a lot of my time had been wasted selecting the item which price had not been honored and then I had to endure abuse and stress which had caused me health-related damages, when price was not honored, my entire time spent selecting items in this store had been wasted, I had video-recorded everything showing he refuses to honor the price). Commits false, deceptive advertising, consumer fraud. 13-2203. False advertising; classification A. Arizona law: A person commits false advertising if, in connection with the promotion of the sale of property or services, such person recklessly causes to be made or makes a false or misleading statement in any advertisement. B. False advertising is a class 1 misdemeanor. Consumer rights are being violated and AZ law is being broken by this store. From Attorney General website, "Consumer fraud, as defined by Arizona law, is any deception, unfair act or practice, false statement, false pretense, false promise or misrepresentation made by a seller or advertiser of merchandise. In addition, concealment, suppression or failure to disclose a material fact may be consumer fraud if it is done with the intent that others rely on such concealment, suppression or nondisclosure. Read moreA Lesson in Rudeness: My Experience at The Big Market in Quartzsite
If you're looking for a store that treats customers like an inconvenience, The Big Market in Quartzsite, Arizona, is the place for you. My recent experience there was one of the worst interactions I've ever had in a retail setting.
The moment I walked in to do a return—before I even got a word out—the owner barked, "We don’t do returns," and immediately turned his head away like I wasn’t even there. No explanation, no customer service—just outright dismissal. When I calmly asked why they don’t do returns, he launched into an absurd rant about how if he allowed returns, he’d be buried under millions of them and out of business overnight. Seriously? Every respectable store in Quartzsite manages returns just fine without collapsing into financial ruin.
At that point, he refused to even look at me, completely ignoring any further questions. I’ve encountered bad service before, but the sheer arrogance and disdain for this customer at The Big Market is next-level. A return policy is one thing, but treating people with basic respect shouldn't be negotiable. If you expect decent service—or even the most minimal level of human decency—consider taking your...
Read moreThis place is the big "ripoff" in town. First of all I get it, you have pretty much 0 competition but the prices on hardware (and pretty much everything else) are HYPER inflated. I mean .80 cents for a tiny 1/4" screw? But then I bought an anchor hook for my solar panel and it didn't fit. It was unopened still in package. They don't accept ANY returns! Ever! That is their policy, food, hardware, cleaners, etc... All brand new stuff. There is NO sign except a TINY one inside atore out of sight of most people! Ya know, one of "those" type stores. After a little back and forth on that unreasonable policy I was told they could "exchange it for a different item but could not refund cash at all so I had to get something higher priced. I bought an overpriced (by $9 compared to a big box store) lock and owed the difference. Please wait until you get to a different town before you buy anything here. Food is cheaper at the two other grocery stores in town and hardware is hard to come by, but if I can wait...WAIT. Parker is 30 minutes away, it is worth the cost to drive there and avoid this place and the owners who obviously could care less. A retail store that accepts NO returns under any...
