My daughter danced here for a year in the ballet level 2 class. We are moving out of state now, but I would be switching back to her old school if we weren't.
The good: Ms. Carol actually seems to care about the kids and dancing. I believe my daughter was taught more technically than her previous school. Also, her recital costume was about 50 dollars cheaper than her costume at the other school, but was just as pretty. We originally came to this school from the one she was at in elizabethtown the year before for two reasons. First, we lived on Fort Knox, so it was so much closer. Second, my daughter did not like tap and this one offered only ballet for her level (old school, she had to take ballet/tap combo). I like how they offer musical theater, but my daughter wasnt old enough yet.
The bad: I believe her name is Carla, but the older lady that sits behind the desk. She has to be family or a friend to the owner because ahe has the absolute worse customer service skills. Seriously, she should be fired and then this school would receive much higher ratings. She seems to have an attitude about everything. For their winter show, they suggest a 5 dollar donation for the "free" tickets. I wanted two after I paid my daughters tuition (which they wont accept cards for) and only had 8 left instead of 10 and she had an attitude about not paying the suggested price. Also, we were told that classes are not canceled unless the teacher cannot make it, regardless if the local schools were canceled or not. I almost withdrew my daughter about two months after she started because of how poor Carla's attitude was.
Once when i came in to get my daughter, one of the older dancers were in the entry way. She was talking with some of the ladies there and I guess she had helped teach a younger class. She was borderline making fun of or talking badly about the kids that she had taught.
When you do the paperwork for your child to dance there, they want your company commanders name and phone number if military. There was nothing about a civilian supervisor and number. The only reason I think they would want this is where, if you dont pay, they can try to get you in trouble with your chain of command if military.
In December, you have to decide if your child will be in the spring recital. If so, they require you sign a paper saying you will pay for all classes through the spring regardless if your child has to leave the school or not.
As i said before, if we werent already moving, I would be switching my daughter back to the school in elizabethtown. Maybe if Carla wasnt there, I would stay with...
Read moreI trained at this small town studio for 14 years and I could not have had a better experience. I took tap, ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, and musical theatre classes and although they are predominately ballet focused, I was a well rounded dancer because of the quality of the classes in the other genres. I received top notch training from professional dancers who care about the students they teach and push them beyond their limits to achieve excellence. This studio isn’t for “dancers” who just want to take ballet for fun, it’s for those who are dedicated to training and being a dancer. This is a pre-professional training studio and the staff and teachers treat it as such; they are dedicated to preparing you for the real dance world. Because of my training at Allegro, I have performed in front of thousands of people in numerous recitals and shows, attended the Governor’s School for the Arts in dance in 2016, received a generous scholarship to major in dance at my current university where I was placed in the second highest level of ballet as a freshman, and many other honorable achievemants. I could not have asked for a better studio to grow up in and to teach me the beautiful art...
Read moreThis is the review you need to listen to. This studio has finally included me and made me feel amazing. Mrs.Carol is amazing. People are saying that the staff here are very rude. That is far from the truth!! The staff are not only teaching dancing they are helping to teach you have to be responsible for your own actions. They also want you to realize that if you have made a commitment then you need to follow through with that commitment. But they do many small things you don’t see. For example, I recently had a niece that was born and Miss Carla took time out of her day in hand knitted A blanket just for her. She really is a very nice woman but just as hard on you to make sure you are the best that you can be. Ms. Carol includes her students in so many things and opens the doors to so many opportunities for the kids. If you want commitment to the kids and dance, if you want your child to learn dance and not just be taught a dance routine, and you want a structured learning experience then this is the place...
