Dollar General — Local services in Ramseur

i went to this store a few months back and i noticed a cashier on the register having a full drawn out conversation about why a guy broke up with her daughter. She continued to have the conversation even as she was ringing my items up. I told her that out of the 13 years ive been in management and retail i have never seen such unprofessionalism in a workplace and i grabbed my things and walked out. After some time to think about rather i should give the store another try i had to stop there so my brother could get some items. The same cashier was at the register talking on a phone and once we approached her register she had a bag of peanuts she was eating on at the register in front of gueats she turned the bag up and continued eating. This woman needs to have more customer service training and she defiantly shouldnt be on your front lines but rather behind the scenes until she can conduct herself in a better manner. For the past 13 years, i have been a regular customer at this location. Usually a hit or miss. They usually have a few things that are priced low but most of the time you can get a lot of the same stuff with a wider selection at Walmart for a few cents cheaper. It could be worth it to someone who is a lot further from a Walmart, or doesn't like Walmart. I am grateful to have a DG close to my home. Over all of these years, every one of the cashiers have been helpful and very kind, even when you can tell they've had a long day. They are always friendly! I go into Dollar General several times a week, and let me just say this the so-called “manager” Kelly is a joke. She’s rude to customers, talks down to her employees, and spends more time outside smoking than actually doing her job. Every time I’m in there, she’s either snapping at someone or disappearing for another smoke break. That’s not management, that’s laziness. Honestly, it’s embarrassing for the store to have someone like her in charge. If you care about being treated with respect as a customer, or even as an employee, beware of Kelly.
