Be informed. I sent an order of $495 to this company. One item I received was not at all what I ordered. The pigskin lining looks more like a cheap plastic brittle table cloth, instead of brushed with a velvety feel. One piece of leather was not shipped at all. Their website says "in stock". I found out that means nothing. Since I paid with Paypal they had my money. What do you think they did? I ordered a piece of leather that states it averages 15 sq. ft., so in order to keep most of my money they sent me a piece that measures 24 sq. ft. I spoke with a female, manager of some type, name begins with D, she admitted to me they sent me a larger piece of another leather so they could keep as much of my money as they could. In other words, they decided for me how I would spend my money, or how they would spend it for me. I did not receive a phone call, email, nothing about this. The surprise was on me when I received my so-called order. I did receive an email from them after they shipped. It stated everything I ordered was shipped. I ordered two inexpensive pieces of latigo bellies, 7-9 sq. ft. each. Every sq. ft. of both are so damaged I wouldn't make a dog collar out of them for anyone, unless I was giving them away free.
When I called I asked to speak with someone about an order I just received. The girl says, in a gruff voice, "What's wrong with it?" Not who am I, not what's your invoice number. I was very kind to them. I tried to reason with them. No luck. When D got on the phone all she wanted was for me to tell her what would make me happy. They offered to take everything back and refund my money. When I decided to take them up on that offer she no longer wanted to do that. Again asking me what else would make me happy, I calculated the return shipping cost, the Paypal fees for refunding my money and told her $65 refund, not even taking the worthless piece of pig hide into consideration, or the totally damaged bellies. She refused, and told me she would refund $26.55 for the worthless pig hide. She was aggravated, rude and aggressive. I knew my complain was falling on deaf ears. They spent some of my money for me, as they chose, not me. I was looking for a new supplier, but this transaction was even worse, much worse. Just another small company with no customer service skills. They are more than ready to get into a heated argument with their customers even when they are completely in the wrong. Read morePlease beware of this business. My husband bought a belt for me through this company's Etsy store, where they are called Maxwell Leigh Leather. When it arrived, it was much too big, although I measured and ordered carefully according to their instructions. I contacted them through Etsy asking if it was possible to do an exchange, which they ignored. I had to open a case with Etsy which they finally responded to saying they would send a replacement if I sent the belt back. The order was placed in end of December 2022. I sent the belt March 3, 2023. Did not hear anything from them, nor receive a replacement. Contacted them again, they got back to me in the end of April acknowledging receipt and again promising to send a replacement. It was never sent. I called them on July 11 and the woman who answered the phone was truly one of the nastiest and rudest people I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. She just kept repeating that they didn't do exchanges, completely ignoring the fact that they had promised to do so and on that basis I sent the belt back. Finally I got angry with her and she hung up on me. Buyer beware, they essentially stole my husband's money and lied about sending a replacement. My husband is out about $100 CAD, I'm out the money for the shipping, and I don't have the item. In their response where they say we were refunded through Etsy they are lying, Etsy did not refund us. They are lying about not knowing what size to send, they never made any attempt to contact me to figure it out and they have been ignoring my messages and phone calls. Ive been buying supplies from them for over 10 years and i even have a wholesale license .even on a good visit the customer service is pathetic the ladies act hateful or just like they have better things todo than help me. Yet i see the people come in that are spending alot.of money and they are treated ok. Not great but better than me. Being a owner myself i do have to make large orders that are costly but im smart enough to go elsewhere. Zacks leather is not the greatest and they do lie about thickness.on more than one ocassion ive paid for what supposed to be 9/10 vegtan and got 8/9 or even 7/8. Thus the reason i order my leather bulk supply from tandy now.zacks problem is they only care about mail order and getting it out as fast as they can thats why there prices are very high on leather.there dyes and tools and other stuff is reasonable priced.i onnly go there now if i have to get an order out asap and dont have time to order from ebay or tandy.
