Man, I’m honestly pretty bummed about my experience at this store. I finally found a good-sized shop with a decent selection of Pokémon near my parents’ home that I could drop by whenever I visit. My first time there, I bought a pretty sizable stack of singles — I forget exactly how many, but I want to say around 20–30 cards. I spent over $200. I was happy with my purchase; they even gave me about a 10% discount for buying so many. I was helped by an employee that time. Prices in general, from what I could see, were pretty concurrent with market value — fair, although the higher-end cards do get taxed a bit.
This was my second time coming in, and it left such a sour taste in my mouth that it makes me not ever want to come back. I took my time looking through the cases and doing research on the cards I liked so I’d know roughly how much I’d be paying. I like to inspect my cards thoroughly, regardless of whether I plan to grade them — I just don’t want to overpay for something I’m not completely satisfied with. So I asked to see a few cards, and the guy helping me at that moment really did not seem to enjoy being there. I ultimately passed on those because we either couldn’t agree on the condition or I just thought the price was too high. I’m not saying someone else wouldn’t have paid those prices, but again, I’m just picky — it’s my money, right?
I told the dude I’d run to my car to grab some cash to pay for the dollar singles I’d pulled from their binder. When I came back, I asked if I could see a few other cards in another case I’d forgotten to ask about. “Nah, I got other things to do. Those aren’t going to get 10s,” he said, while eating a bag of chips or whatever. Mind you, this other case was full of modern art rares — so, like, on the lower end. I was flabbergasted because, like, what does that matter to you? Even if I had wanted to grade them, it would’ve benefited you to let me see them, because if I thought I could grade them, you’d have made a sale!
Anyway, I told him I didn’t want to grade them and just wanted prices, which he obliged — and the prices matched market value — but at that point, I was so annoyed. I wasn’t about to buy a card from someone who wouldn’t even let me see them. Honestly, I was so pissed off I almost didn’t buy the five singles I had already picked out. Whatever. I gave him the five dollars, shook his hand (as you do when you close a deal), and asked if he was the owner — to which he said yes. Okay, cool bro, go back and finish your very important bag of Cheetos.
Honestly, I’m sure plenty of people have a good experience there. There’s a lot of space and tables, and both times I visited, there were tons of people playing matches and browsing. I’m sure it’s a wonderful community, but I did not like how I was treated — especially by the OWNER. Also, I’ll say: the last time I was there, there was an inspector serving a notice that they didn’t have some kind of permit to be operating as a business, so like… what the hell, lmfao.
Yeah, not coming back, unfortunately. Even if they do have decent-ish prices and a good selection, I’ve been to too many other card shops, and I’ve never been told I couldn’t see a card I was considering...
Read moreI was a supporter of this store but will no longer be shopping there again. I went into the store today with my 10 year old son to buy Pokemon cards as we always do. We usually never have an issue but my last 2 visits we were assisted by some big semi bald fella who clearly gives the vibes that he does not want to be there. We asked him prices for various items and every time we asked he would roll his eyes and look at another young guy with glasses for the prices. We then decided on what we wanted and he put some packs on the counter which my son grabbed to look at since we were going to purchase them and had never been an issue before. The guy behind the counter then tells my son not to touch the packs and put them down which did make me upset. I then told the clerk that we aren't going to steal anything to which he gave me a dirty look and said he knew so I don't know what this guys problem was but he definitely does not belong at the front of the store if he's going to have attitude like that. I do appreciate the nice staff that had assisted us in the past but I will now be taking my...
Read moreWent into the shop recently and got some 151 Pokémon packs that were priced at the scalper rates. I still purchased them as I can’t find them anywhere else. Well what a mistake that was. When I went to open the first pack it fell apart. The seam down the back of the pack opened on its own as I was trying to cut open the pack. I’ve been opening packs for years and never ever had this happen. I got about ten packs from them and each one the sealing on the back was comprised. Those who know Pokémon 151 have a good understanding why you can’t find those packs anywhere, the hit rates. There are so many hits in that set that it’s sold out everywhere. Well this will just prove to be another reason I could tell the packs were resealed after being opened. First the cards were out of order and the pulls were all the same. How do I end up with 5 gengars none of them full art just basic holos. I would never trust this store again and if you are reading this I’m glad you did your research as I did not. I recommend...
