I am not one to complain or write bad reviews…. But I have mixed feelings about the Spa at Terranea because we were guests here for three nights - using the pool and cafe at The Spa and no one asked for ID or proof of room residency until the last day.

We got stopped and then we were told that we couldn’t use the pool there at the spa unless we had services or paid $65 for a day pass. We were never told that this pool had restrictions and no one even blinked before.

This pool area is also joined by the gym on the opposite side of the spa. Do you have to pay $65 additional to use to the gym?? It was just ridiculous bc we didn’t get instructions on which pools we had access to at front desk check in. And to find out they want to charge you $65 was absurd in my opinion. I understand it’s for spa service patrons only but also when you’re paying well to stay at the resort they should grant you access to any of the pools on site.

And for $65 a day they truly need better housekeeping looking after the pool are and chairs. We barely saw people cleaning up food plates or empty drinks and no one came by ever to clean vacant chairs and pull then towels off.

We caught one of the hotel directors on our way out and explained the situation and she was lovely. She was super understanding and was able to get us a bracelet to be let back in.

After laying by the pool for almost four hours no one really asked us if we needed anything or offered a menu. It was poor service and just awkward. When you’re paying this much to stay here and then are being charged to use the pool I’d expect that at least the staff would be more attentive to guests in regards to food and drinks.

We love the hotel itself and beautiful grounds. But this was the one hiccup...

Life has been a roller coaster lately and my wife and I were trying to figure out what to do to decompress and we were recommended a day at the spa at Terranea. We would pass by the Terranea whenever we hike in Palos Verdes but we have never been so we decided that this would be a great opportunity to check it out. Upon arrival at the spa we were immediately greeted by their staff and were taken care of with phenomenal customer service. You get the feeling that everyone that works there is happy to be there which makes the overall experience that much better. Being that it was our first time we were both sent off to a receive a tour of our areas. In the men’s section they have a jacuzzi, cold plunge, sauna, steam room, fire place, quiet place and snacks along with it. Having the availability of the cold plunge was a huge plus for me as I’ve been wanting to use it lately. After spending time utilizing the pools and hot rooms my wife and I enjoyed reading and having one of their salads with their beautiful view of the coast. Perfect fresh meal for the hot sunny day, too. They have a heated pool which was nice to dip into after laying out too long. We were going to check out their fitness center but didn’t get the chance too. We’ve heard good things about it so we will make sure to check it out next time. At the end of the night my wife and I met up in the shared quiet area upstairs and watched the sunset as we sipped on their complimentary tea. We then sat by the fireplace and shared our experiences with each other and I must say this was the perfect way to reset and I couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you to Kevin Lee, Tyler Monroy, and your team for providing us with a great experience and stellar customer service....

Relaxing luxury spa within the sound of crashing waves at Terranea Resort. The Spa at Terranea is a very good luxury spa with an extensive menu of treatments. The reception is quick and professional from a desk set among small collection of spa shopping items and central access to the locker rooms, salon, café, and the fantastic spa pool area. The locker rooms were fully appointed with lockers, comfy robes, slippers, grooming area, bathroom, shower, sauna, hot tub, plunge tub, outdoor/private lounge area, and indoor lounge—all really top of the line. I especially appreciated one of the best multi-head showers I’ve experienced in a spa locker room. The attendants were sharp and professional in moving guests through the facility. The co-ed treatment lounge included a comforting fireplace, sweeping views of the ocean (including sights of dolphins, seals, etc.), and the sounds of the waves breaking against the rocks below. The therapists were great healing professionals in well-appointed treatment rooms. The spa pool area is a special gem with plenty of seating/laying options including umbrella-shaded two-person beds with ocean views and poolside food/drink service. The costs are fairly high for luxury level facilities and treatments, and I’d rate the value as good. Overall, I’d rate this among one of the better spa facilities I’ve experienced; highly recommended especially if you’re a guest...

Wonderful experience! Definitely recommend arriving early or staying late to get the full value of The Spa. Prices were a bit high, but being able to enjoy the sauna, steam room, hot tub, and other facilities for the full day really made a difference. The star of the show was DRACO! Draco was an incredible masseuse, and made me feel very comfortable and welcome. He asked the perfect amount of questions to understand my preferences, and checked in with me throughout the hour to make sure I was happy. The staff in the women's locker room were also attentive, helpful, and approachable. Towels, robes, body products, etc were well stocked, or available immediately from the staff. Gratuity was automatically included in payment upon check-in. Some may have different opinions but this made it nice and simple in my opinion. I had a massage from 3:30-4:30, which was the perfect time to end with a beautiful sunset from the post-massage lounge. Absolutely lovely experience.
