This and every other place at Terranea is sad example of resorts that pretend to offer quality food and instead just dress up a bunch of low quality Sysco crap and but just the right amount of seed oil, white sugar, and salt to fool everyone to think they’re eating human grade meals. They use eggs from tortured chickens that don’t have beaks or any space to move. A place like this should use at least free range eggs. They also do not have organic berries for their açaí bowl which just goes to show that they don’t care at all about health and instead charge exuberant prices for gas station quality produce with a fancy smear on it. I’m sure most people love it because most people eat garbage with a smile and ask for seconds but if you care, BEWARE! Also their $46 sea bass fillet was a deep fried, over cooked, dry sloppy mush pile of fish that is no better than something you can get at P.F. Chang’s. Worst piece of fish over $30 I have ever wasted money on. I recommend bringing your own food if your going to stay here as there aren’t any other restaurants within 15 min of the place that has human...
Read moreFantastic Asian-inspired meal at the beautiful Terranea Resort. Service was extremely friendly, fast, and efficient. The indoor part of the restaurant was smaller than expected with a busy, lively, and casual atmosphere; outdoor seating faced the resort pool and a cove on the Pacific beyond. The menu was packed with interesting choices. The salt and pepper calamari as prepared perfectly, just the right texture with only mild breading and spices. The eggplant and okra stew was a surprisingly complex mix of flavor with curry and coconut foundations. The Peking duck fried rice was as good but rather ordinary. The octopus is crispy on the outside and firm on the inside with a beautiful charred exterior...wonderful! We loved the $3 kimchi side—great value for great food! The miso whisky bread pudding was a spectacular mix of sweet and savory and kind of a surprising desert for this type of restaurant. The half-priced bottle of good sake (happy hour) was an extra bonus, especially paired with a good Japanese beer. Reservations highly suggested. I highly recommend...
Read moreIt's not every day that I write reviews for sushi places, but Bashi truly offered one of the most exceptional dining experiences I've had at a Japanese restaurant.
The service was fast, polite, and incredibly helpful for deciphering the menu.
We enjoyed the dumplings, Uni Nigiri, and two rolls—the Surf Rider and Triple Delight—along with some outstanding cocktails. The sushi was of great quality with a complex flavor.
The cocktail program blew my expectations out of the water. The Kimchi Blood Mary concept is something I'm definitely "stealing" to make at home. The infused Shiitake Old Fashioned with flowers set into the ice cube was beautiful but the Electric Daisy was one of the most unique cocktails I've had this year; biting into the flower created an explosion on my tongue that completely transformed the drink. Simply outstanding.
I would highly recommend Bashi to...
