I was invited by a friend who lives in NJ to come shooting with him at RTSP in Randolph. For NJ residents I highly recommend many trips/visits to RTSP! My experience yesterday was on their indoor firing range, and I was impressed. This is the first time I’ve been to a range where there were a number of range safety officers monitoring the firing line and ready to assist shooters if need be. Wow! To the 4 officers on the line yesterday, thanks! Real pros, they kept a watchful eye, were quick to assist or answer any questions and most importantly, they stayed out of the shooter’s way so everyone could have a good, productive time on the firing line. 👏 I overheard one of the officers talking and I believe he was retired law enforcement, I don’t know if they all were active or retired, but they were all tremendous!
We had less interaction with the counter staff, but everyone we spoke to was friendly, courteous and helpful. How did the ownership/management at RTSP put together such an outstanding staff under one roof!?! Great job!
As for the indoor range itself, it was clean, well lit, and the target carriers were touchscreen friendly to send out and retrieve. I don’t build indoor gun ranges for a living, but I’ve been around the shooting sports now for 30 years, and nice indoor range’s aren’t cheap. The setup at RTSP was very much appreciated!!!
Overall I had a great experience at RTSP, it’s too far from where I live for me to return as often as I would love to, but I probably won’t pass up any invites to go back there 😁 If you live in NJ and are anywhere within striking distance of this place, you’ve got a gem there in RTSP, don’t overlook them, places like this are the proverbial needle in the haystack! Maybe the ownership will think about expanding west into...
Read moreWe just came from RTSP at randolph brought my two sons and wife with me ( her first time ). We are not in Gun range all the time. Although not my first time but we don’t handle firearms perfectly but safely of course. It started when I place the rifle bag on the floor then pulled the rifle out with the rifle pointing down and I still had the chamber plug in. Since then he never left us. And he also gave some tips on how the kids handled the pistol and me on my reloading the rifle. But it made us annoyed and put off. My wife didn’t want to fire either rifle or pistol at all which defeated my purpose of bringing her to the range so she would have confidence on how to handle and shoot and have a good impression and experience my sons didn’t want to shoot the rifle too! We all felt that we are being mocked don’t belong to that range! I also tried to buy ammo for my 10/22 which I just bought from Randolph and I asked if I could buy ammo for it since I have not shot it Since I bought it but I was not sold even for one(1) box! Just to test it. I was told that they were exclusively for rental fa only! I bought this rifle from your store that I be allowed to test it for that matter? I would say your rules/policies are written in stone. That there are no exception. Like my wife said “it’s never again and for my kids!” I’m still giving it a 3 star rating for the reason that other officers and sales personnel that I have dealt with before were nice but this experience was not how I expected it to end. The range officer might have good intentions . You see there are ways of saying things in a nice way and the way we do things our way as long as it is safe and convenient for us not for him or them. People do things differently as long as the end means is achieved safety...
Read moreThe facility itself is decent but the staff can be very unfriendly or downright rude. I went with a friend and we rented everything (which was quite expensive but expected), and once we got onto the range an extremely unpleasant safety officer proceeded to constantly hover over us making us very uncomfortable. Anyone who likes to shoot knows that you do not want someone making you feel anxious, my friend was a new shooter and his presence itself was the largest detriment to our performance. At no point did we make light of gun safety, I don't know if he was having a bad day or is just always miserable, but he was giving off terrible vibes. He left after about a half hour and the next officer (who was very nice and the only reason this isn't a 1-star review) handed me a speed loader for our handgun after watching me load a mag by hand. The first officer watched me load over 10 magazines by hand and never once thought to tell me those were available, but he took every opportunity to criticize and undermine us. He seemed like an ex-cop type with an inferiority complex. With the money you have to spend there to rent everything, they could at the very least treat their customers with courtesy and respect. I read another review for this location written by an ex-marine describing a similar experience of being disrespected and I absolutely believe him. I doubt I will be coming back here. Leaving a negative review is the only recourse I have since you can't argue with a safety officer on the range and I didn't want to make a scene or further ruin my own day. There are other employees there that are very kind and helpful, but having anyone there that makes a customer feel unsafe or unwelcome is...
