Stopped in yesterday to pick up some card sleeves. I was looking for Fantasy Flight Games or Gamegenic standard European board game size (purple color code). The man running the store asked if there’s anything I was looking for and I told him I was wondering if he carried any card sleeves. He immediately snapped “We don’t have any” and went back to organizing Massive The Gathering cards. I walked over to some games that I recognized on one wall and beneath them in a basket I find that he did in fact have the exact card sleeves I was looking for. I mentioned to the man that they did have them and they were right there, and he responded that most people coming in are looking for card sleeves for standard American cards like Pokémon and he doesn’t carry those. He mocked those people saying sleeves for those are better found at Walmart.
I was irritated that he dismissed my inquiry and lied that he didn’t have any card sleeves instead of politely inquiring as to what size sleeves I was looking for. I am not about to patronize such a narrowminded establishment, so I walked out without buying them even though he had the sleeves I was looking for.
This gentleman was exceedingly rude, and I highly discourage anyone from...
Read moreHad an unfortunate experience at this shop. I live in CO and am a big comic reader. I introduced my mother to the Faith series. She went to this shop, the only option in Rapid, with questions on the best way to get into the series. The employee was unhelpful and demeaning. The comic book industry is growing and this is not a great way to expand comics within Rapid City. My mother and my brother have decided to take their business out of Rapid City and have asked me to add the series they are interested in to my box at my local comic shop in CO. We should be encouraging new readers, not discouraging and shaming new comers with their questions. I am extremely...
Read moreI was astounded by how rude the gentleman running the store was to me.
I have a hard time hearing and the clerk made what I thought was a tongue-in-cheek comment on my impairment. It happens a lot so I thought it was no big deal until I began to read an opened, official manual that blended Magic the Gathering and Dungeon's and Dragons.
Apparently, this was not the right thing to do, even if I was interested in purchasing it because I was literally told "Browsing is okay, but if you want to read, the library is two blocks that way."
It was a great suggestion. I won't patronise this...
