UPDATE 7/25/24: I have filed a FRAUD REPORT with the Delaware State Police. I contacted Troop 7 Lewes to get an initial report on file, which will be followed up on by DSP Troop 4 Financial Crimes Unit. I would highly recommend anyone who is owed money or product do the same. In addition, send the business a REGISTERED LETTER RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED demanding return of funds. Keep a solid log of all calls, call attempts, and conversation with date time and duration.
Original: On May 30, my 91 year old mother decided to purchase new outdoor furniture for her deck. She found what she liked and the owner (I assume), "Frank" Lutz estimated 3 weeks for delivery. My spidey senses tweeked a little because we had just come from a different store that said the exact same furniture was 6 - 8 weeks right now. Regardless, she ordered and gave a $3,000 down payment on the $5,366 purchase. The receipt did not break down the pricing on each of the 4 items, but when we got home, I questioned that, and in particular, the price on a "Firepit Table." My mother called back, and the owner answered immediately. On learning the table was almost $2000 of the total, she canceled that. She said the man on the phone was very accommodating and it was no worry. The effect was, however, that her order was now fully paid. Jump ahead, and we are now 3 weeks overdue and have heard NOTHING. My mother called multiple times with NO ANSWER until finally the recording indicated the "Voice Mailbox is Full" and hangs up. I got involved at that point and called multiple times. Indeed, the mailbox was full. On one occasion, someone definitely answered the phone but said nothing, dead air for several seconds before the phone was hung up. I called right back, and the phone went direct to the "Mailbox Full" recording. I sent an email explaining the issue and asking for a return call to discuss the situation. NOTHING. I sent a FAX (I felt ancient), advising I was going to file a FRAUD REPORT with the POLICE (it is a crime to take money and use it for another purpose, such as paying off old debts rather than ordering the new product it was given for), if I didn't get a call back by end of business that week. NOTHING So now, my next stop is the Rehoboth Beach Police. It has ALL the hallmark signs of a poorly run business, in debt, and running a Ponzi type scheme. Maybe it isn't, I don't know, but it is time to get the police to look into it since he is clearly taking more than just my mother's cash and then not fulfilling the transaction. STAY FAR AWAY is my best...

I ordered a chair from Mr. Frank Lutz of Oceanside Casual Furniture on 1/13/24, and paid the full price by credit card. Expected delivery was 4-6 weeks. Thirteen weeks later I left repeated phone messages over 4 days that were never returned. I finally visited the store on 4/13 where Mr. Lutz claimed he would talk to the manufacturer. The response was that the chair would be delivered on 4/30 and that Mr. Lutz would call when it arrived. I left message on 5/3 and did not receive a callback. Called again on 5/6 which was finally returned on 5/7 when Mr. Lutz claimed that he would make a trip to the manufacturer to "find out what was going on" and call us back. That did not happen, so I called again on 5/21 when Mr. Lutz claimed he would be picking up our chair from the vendor himself and would call us back when he had it. Left message on 5/31, and he did not call back. Reached him by phone on 6/1 to cancel the order. Mr. Lutz agreed to cancel it and immediately refund the full amount on the original credit card. The refund did not appear on our account as of 6/11, so spoke with Mr. Lutz that day. He claimed that all of his credit card transactions for 6/1 mysteriously disappeared, and that he would order a check to be mailed to us-- and that it should arrive in a few days. That did not happen so I left a message on 6/18 which was not returned. Called again on 6/20 and finally reached Mr. Lutz. He claimed he would look into it and call back, which he did on 6/21, when he promised that the check would arrive during the week of 6/24. As of 7/10 there is no refund check. I tried calling 20 times during business hours between 7/5 and 7/8 but no one answered.
I finally submitted a complaint the Better Business Bureau where there are more compaints just like mine. If the BBB can't get results, I'll have to file a complaint with the county court of...
Read moreI had an awful experience with this company and in particular with Frank. He promised me furniture in 3 weeks, I waited 6 and then cancelled the order. I’ve waited 7 days to get a credit on my credit card and it’s still not there. Frank said it would take 5 days to get the credit.
Frank never followed through with what he said he would do, he NEVER called me back when he said he would. And when I called him he would lie about when my order was going to show up. He promised to have it to me 3 different times.
The day I canceled the order he told me that the company was finishing the cushions and I’d have it the next day. It was as if he thought I would believe he had that level of detail on my order, when he hadn’t known anything about it before this.
I have now gotten my credit card company involved in the dispute. Next up the Better Business Bureau!!!
Like many others who wrote reviews, I like to support small, local businesses but I will never use or recommend this store. A better option is Tyndall’s Casual Furniture.
UPDATE: It’s been 5 weeks and I still have not gotten a credit on my credit card for my cancelled order. This has been a horrible experience. Do...
