Parking was easy, little strip right off Coastal Hwy. This is a large restaurant with modern decor, with a large bar stocked with around 50 different tequilas. I was alone so I chose to sit at the bar. Service was excellent! Anything I needed, I got in a reasonable amount of time.
I ordered a Modelo draft, ice cold, perfect. I asked about the Julio Real, and they do it at $30 a shot here. The other tequilas were reasonably priced as well. I went with a shot of Real after dinner for desert.
Chips & Salsa!!! Chips...warm with a soft crisp, solid chip. Salsa...pureed hard, love the balance of the ingredients, with just enough cilantro to keep me happy. I could drink this stuff...
I ordered the verde enchiladas: 3 rolled corn tortillas with chicken inside, verde sauce and melted cheese on top, lettuce, and sour cream. Served with a side of rice. I also got refried beans. The enchiladas cut easily with a fork. The chicken was tasty, tender, and delicious! The verde sauce had a little tang to it, but when you used the lettuce and sour cream....amazing combo! Beans...light, creamy texture, some of the best in the buisness. Rice...soft, fluffy, not dry at all, solid rice game.
I ordered a chicken tamale with red sauce, and melted cheese on top. I was scared at first because it looked like many that I haven't liked. Forget about that!!! This was a really good tamle. The masa was soft and warm with no sign of dry. The chicken was again moist and delicious, and the sauce/cheese combo wasn't overpowering. This was something I'll get every time I go. One of the best I've had during this journey.
I ordered tacos choosing chorizo, carnitas, and steak. Chorizo...good char, excellent flavor, and they were loaded with meat. The tortillas were solid, not my fav, but a good upper middle of the road. Carnitas...off the charts, right there with Chabelita and TM Burriro. The meat was tender, juicy, and had a crisp to the outside. I love me some good carnitas! Steak...marinated and seasoned to perfection, juicy, no salsa needed for any of...
Read moreI was starving and decided to come to Azteca with my family of 12 and they were sort of unorganized. They didn’t have big tables at all and they had so many big parties and no big tables? They started to assemble our table in front of us, we thought that was unorganized. Then we got sat, our waiter was a bit shy and quiet, I understood sort of, but then again if your working as a waitress you should have some sort of voice to ask the customers what they would like. Don’t even get me started on the food. Me and my sister had chicken quesadillas, we thought it was gonna be so good because every time we got to a mexican restaurant, they have amazing chicken quesadillas, this has to be the only mexican restaurant we’ve been to that’s had bad quesadillas. The quesadillas were not well seasoned nor well cooked, the chicken was shredded and mushy, could barely taste the cheese, my cousin literally thought i was eating straight tuna. My other cousins had burritos , they didn’t really like them, it had no flavor. My cousins cousin had chilaquiles and shes an adult, shes not picky which shocked me when she said it was gross and she said the sauce was the issue. Then the bill comes to $300 , we expected it to be expensive of course , but for food that tasted disgusting like that? Absolutely not. Theres also only one bathroom which I think shouldn’t be that way, there should be multiple, especially considering I went in the bathroom, and people started to shake my nob and being loud and I felt rushed to get out the bathroom, I think they should have at least 3 stalls for each gender so more people can use the bathroom, but at least the bathroom...
Read moreI am truly and genuinely appalled by the horrendous service given to us. I am not one to make things about race but it must be noted for the purposes of the story that my family were the only non-white people in the entire restaurant. Our waiter was extremely rude, giving waters and chips to the rest of the customers, making a note to give them to those who came after us first. He finally came over to our table when WE waved to him (he was voluntarily going to other people's tables). He didn't even say hi or hello or how are you literally said "What do you want" with his facial expression as if we had just asked him for his left kidney. My dad asked kindly if the things we had ordered were vegetarian friendly since my family are vegetarians by birth and through religion and he said "yeah probably" instead of saying something humanly decent like "I'll check." We noticed once again people's food and drink who had ordered after us coming out before ours. We didn't even get our drinks until all the appetizers were finished. When we asked him to get us our drinks he scoffed and left our table, not saying a word, not even a "let me go check. " Truly appalling service and quite frankly bizarre behavior. I will not...
