I was looking forward to having an Iceberg location in Rexburg, since I've visited them over the years in Utah and Mesa, Arizona—I had fond recolections. Unfortunately, the new experience didn't match old memories.
I ordered with the app before driving over, to take advantage of a special. When I arrived, I couldn't manage to figure out how to enter the drive through, since the it and the restaurant next door both wrap around the building. So I went in. There were only a few people in the dining area, and when I gave my name at the counter they quickly found that my order was ready.
I was then asked if I had a shake with that, which I did. I was told they would need to make it. So I waited another 5 minutes for them to do that. It wasn't worth the wait.
I don't like the "above the rim" gimick. Just put a plastic cap over it, or something. Instead, they put a smaller cup inside of a bigger cup, so that when it invariably starts to melt, it spills into the larger cup. It didn't work. On the 10 minute drive home, it got all over around my car's cupholder.
In addition to that, my mini "caramel" shake pretty much just tasted like vanilla soft serve. Maybe with a vague hint of caramel. Good thing I got it for free via the app special.
Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't fare much better. One of the two onion rings in my "frings" order was obviously the outside layer of the onion. It was papery and unchewable. The zucchini strips were truly awful. I can only assume that they got ahold of some large, old, overgrown squash. They were woody and bitter. I tried a bite from 3 different strips before just throwing them all out.
The burger, chicken sandwich, and fries were passable, but given the prices, there are better options. Overall, it didn't stand up to the hype or even my...
Read moreI have been here twice since opening. Both times our food has been great and our shakes have been great, and the people working the window have been very polite! However a big thing is that last time I went through the drive through, with only one car ahead of me, I waited for 30 minutes which I think is way to long especially for a restraunt called Iceburg- Drive inn. I was given my shakes around the 5 minute mark so by the time I received my food, my shakes were melting and dripping in my car. I was picking up ice cream for other people so I couldn't just eat it to prevent the drips. If drive through wait times get significantly shorter and ice cream products not made until food is ready to be given, I would easily give 5 stars. Will probably be back again in hopes of seeing improvement in the future as it's one of my husbands favorite places.
Also, get the rodio burger!...
Read moreBeen twice within the first week of them opening: Grand opening and today. Similar to their grand opening, it was still very busy. They clearly have made an impact in the Rexburg area and for me a very positive one. If you have heard of Iceberg, you know they have great shakes, but it doesn't stop there. This is much more than just a place to get shakes. The burgers are delicious and so are their fries and other sides. And with the quantity of food you get for the price, it's hard to recommend anywhere else. The biggest thing going against them is location. With a dining area that currently can sit around 40 people. It fills up quickly. Same with the awkward drive thru that can be difficult to get in to and difficult to hear the employee through the speakers. Looking beyond that though, Iceberg Drive Inn is a welcome addition to Rexburg and one that I see myself...
