Today on August 12th at 1pm, I went to shop at Kroger. After entering, I stopped by the bank inside the store, passing a white older woman with long white hair who was working at the self-checkout. I noticed she watched me very intently and in a very unfriendly way. It made me feel uncomfortable how she looked at me. She looked like she was upset that I even walked in the store despite me not speaking or approaching her ever before. Later, when I finished picking up some vegetables, I went to self-checkout. My mom had forgotten an item and stepped away while I started scanning. Each time I entered a produce code, the same worker loudly and aggressively shouted, “Scan the barcode!!!” At first, I thought she was speaking to someone else, but it became clear she was directing her comments at me every time I rang up produce. I’ve worked in a grocery store before and know that entering produce codes is completely valid and often more accurate especially when barcodes don’t scan properly. I had bananas that would not scan, so I searched by image. She continued watching me and then came over, rudely saying I was ringing up the wrong item because I supposedly had organic bananas. She corrected it herself but still had to enter the banana code manually because the barcode wouldn’t work for her either. She treated me with a very condescending and rude demeanor which again made me feel uncomfortable. When my mom returned, the worker continued loudly repeating, “Just scan the barcode!!!!,” and again aggressively approached me again, this time getting uncomfortably close and invading my personal space. She was so close that I had to tell her to please step back and that I knew what I was doing. I felt so threatened and even afraid that she was going to physically assault me. She stepped away mumbling to herself. Throughout the interactions, her tone was loud, condescending, and unlike how she spoke to other customers. I felt singled out, and while I can’t say for certain, it felt like her behavior towards me may have been racially motivated. She was white, and I am Hispanic. She treated other customers around me who were white very politely, but throughout all of our encounters she seemed to be upset with me even though I never acted in any way shape or form disrespectful towards her. At no point did she speak to me with respect or demonstrate good...
Read moreCompletely unacceptable behavior from a cashier named Kathleen. I’ve never ever seen someone be a stereotypical racist such as her. When trying to shop around this lady has followed me to “safeguard” the store, then I go to pay at self checkout with groceries she not once, twice, but THREE times feels the need to move me to another line with a cashier. It’s unacceptable because others have their groceries filled to the brim and when I ask why me along everyone else she said “because I caught you.” What excuse is that?? First time I stood my ground and remained in the self checkout line. Second time a manager came and told cashier Kathleen that I can pay where I please. As soon as shopping was complete she asked for my receipt to check that I scanned everything because according to her I’m a stealer?? The third instance TODAY August 3rd at 1:16PM she started grabbing my cart telling me not to pay here and tried to get me to pay elsewhere. I tried to brush it off asking her to scan my water and she refused to which I did so myself. Cashier always has the need to make it known to other customers with the volume of her voice to move me from self checkout. I snapped and asked why is it that you always do this to me when others have the same amount of groceries. Just a mother trying to get her groceries done and every time I come to this store I feel like I have to avoid her to avoid the humiliation she gives me. Latino manager then comes and assesses the situation and let her know that I can pay wherever. This woman Kathleen is upright rude and has no self worth. An honest job is an honest job, no need to spread that miserableness to others with that...
Read moreI went to this location simply because I had been in there area and I actually called before I came because I did NOT want to be turned away and it was said to be okay and come on. I was making a return , which had to be "verified through management" even though the receipts says you can return at any location the same. Mind you I have my sleeping SICKLY daughter and it's windy and cold at this point. The customer service representative said that people were scamming that location so I'd have to go back to the location I had bought the items from which I understand, but to be a consistent shopper of this Kroger's and growing up in the area -- it leaves a horrible taste in your mouth when you call & you GET THERE TO BE SENT AWAY because "other people were scamming you. Well I'm not part of the people that did that & I wonder if I looked different had the outcome been the same. She did nothing to help me & stopped talking to me and proceeded to check another customer out during the process. Another clerk walked up on the other side and nobody proceeded to let me out of line. Not to mention as i was leaving and exiting (wrong door) another lady that works that she gives me an ugly look as I walked away. Sad thing is I grew up down the street and will NEVER be returning. Thank you Kroger's for leaving a bitter taste in a loyal customer's mouth.
Did I mention that my fuel point count for March was 835 ?? Yes I've spent near 1k in a month at Krogers and this is how i...
