Is this place a con, or a clown show? They are open one half day a week. Lots of attention to locating homes? As long as yo show up on their schedule. Each animal has to have a unique application. So after you show up on saturday, and discover that it is a week before you can come back, and then discover that there already 4 applications for that one animal, and he is gone, you have to start all over with another application for another animal. They contact your vet and want history of vet activity. They contact your employer, they want to know how you spend your day. How many actual adopters make it through the labyrinth of all this nonsense, to actual adopt an animal? Save yourself time and nonsense, go to Operation Kindness in Carollton. They are a no kill rescue and work with many local city shelters, taking in animals and actually placing them, And amazingly, they are open 7 days a week!! This place is run by idealistic children. how long do animals wait in cages until they find the perfect (nonexistent) home? As you can well imagine, I will not participate in this nonsense. AND I do take care...
Read moreCannot say enough good things about this rescue group. They are super hard-working, VERY hands on with the care of their animals and support for their fosters. I have done animal transport, fostered for, and adopted from TMHPR and I think the world of Elise and her volunteers.
And the best thing about them, for me? VERY level-headed, dedicated and NO DRAMA. (Unlike some rescue groups.) If Elise says she will take a dog into her rescue - she does. And she and her team find the very best home for that dog. Period.
I'm sad to see a negative review on here from a fella who must not know how rescue works: these people are VOLUNTEERS and are out actively saving the lives of animals while also trying to find them homes. It can take a day or so for most rescue volunteers to get back to you - and they don't always have the luxury of time to update a website daily.
AND just because someone puts in an application on an animal, that doesn't mean they are the right fit or that they applied early enough to get the animal. There is no "bait and switch" - someone may have just beat you to that pet. Simple as that.
Keep up the great...
Read moreIt would appear that they are not really in the business of adopting out pets. Found one I wanted very much and called and called to make sure he was still there. Volunteer told me they could not figure out why he was not adopted and was glad I was interested. But the application process is absurd: they work against getting animals adopted by the pettiness and they are not quick at all. Always the excuse that they are volunteers. I really wanted to care for that animal for the rest of his life, evidently I do not meet their ridiculous standards. They were more judgmental than helpful. The Board that writes their adoption protocols needs to review their facts because they are operating on misinformation. Being intrusive into the medical history of the animal I already own is by no means is an indicator of my ability to be a responsible pet owner. They might as well shutter their doors because they are not helping anyone. In the big picture, they did not harm me, but cost him a fur ever home.Shame on you for putting yourself out as helping animals when you hinder the process of getting them in to...
