I'd seen a lot of my friends go here with young kids to enjoy their ice cream and their unique seating, which is 8 or so swings at a large table. My name came up as their name of the day, so I thought I'd check it out since who could go wrong with free ice cream? My teen daughter and I went for our date time together. They had signage posted around about sarcasm comes free etc, which I thought was unique and funny. When we walked in there were more than half a dozen employees behind the counter, congregated having a couple of conversations. Sarcasm was not their problem though. Getting any ONE of the employees to take our first time order was. When an employee finally broke away from the personal conversations happening and helped us, I asked how the name of the day free ice cream worked. She said just let me know what flavor you want! My daughter got cookie dough and I got a caramel explosion or something like that. Another personal conversation happened on the way to us checking out. So when she went to give us our total, she forgot the free coupon, but immediately fixed it after I said something. By the way, we were the ONLY ones in line at this time. We went and sat down in the cushioned seats by the fire and were excited to try the heaping scoops they give you. I have to say, the first bite we kind of both just looked at each other like...is this ice cream supposed to taste like this? I don't know how to describe it except that it did not taste fresh, at all. After about the second or third bite I seriously contemplated throwing mine in the trash. I hate to waste food so we both went on to eat it but curious about the different taste. It did seem to "grow on you" as you got further in. I don't know if I will give it a second chance or not. This place could definitely be fun for much younger kids with the swings as chairs although I did see a lot of...
Read moreThis humorously themed ice cream parlor maintains a fun concept, and the staff continues to be pleasant and engaging. However, we have serious concerns regarding food safety at this establishment and the well being of our family.
Many restaurants prominently display their most recent health inspection report, but this parlor does not. Furthermore, after our own investigation, we were unable to find any inspection report for this business at city hall. This lack of transparency raises significant questions.
Our simple questions are:
Was this ice cream parlor inspected for food safety? If so, where is the report publicly available?
The absence of a visible health inspection report, and the inability to locate one through public records, is concerning. While we appreciate the fun atmosphere and the friendly staff, food safety is paramount. We would strongly advise the management to address this issue promptly and transparently.
We are ready to revise this review when evidence presents itself.
As ordinary consumers, we are not paid or compensated in any way for this review. We are always looking for reliable and transparent businesses and hope the owner will take this feedback into consideration.
Prior review: The irony concept is fun and the staff plays along, but the ice cream feels than ideal. The day we visited it was served too warm, beginning to melt instantaneously and resulting in subpar, too dense a texture. Hope they...
Read moreTried the Cappuccino Crunch as I usually go for coffee ice cream. Well, this flavor was MUCH MORE COFFEE-like and bitter than I usually anticipated, so I had to pass on that usual and expand my palate.
I sampled the Red Velvet ice cream and it was a good flavor. I went with another choice: The PB Buckeye Brownie was hard to chew and the flavor itself was not my most favorite….. Large selection of flavors but nothing mind-blowing. I should’ve gone with the Chocolate Raspberry flavor, but I have a feeling it would have tasted ordinary as well.
My mom got the Red Velvet and Butterfinger and liked it. Overall, this is a good B-level ice cream spot. Paid $8 and some for both of us, and that’s a win in this economy for me. Employees are hard-working.
The shop had a swing set with artificial grass set inside, which was very cute and unique. We enjoyed our ice cream while seated on the swings, but the actual taste of the whole thing was just ok. I wouldn’t drive here again. If you’re wanting something rich, I would try Cold Stone Creamery or something else. But if homemade and simple/good ice cream is your fancy, come here. I give it a neutral B.
UPDATE: Changed my rating from 3 stars to 4 stars as the business took the time to reply back to my review, accepting my criticism like a champ. That deserves a...
