From my Facebook review:
This place was an unexpected dream.
Wedding dress shopping was extremely stressful for me at first. I had several horrible experiences at other salons and I went here on a whim with my mother and maid of honor. I'm a very laid-back bride, but I felt reluctant at first given my time spent in other bridal salons. All three of us were greeted warmly and Joanne, my consultant, asked me some questions about what I was looking for and what price range I wanted to stay in. I'm a heavier bride, and I wanted something that would look good and that I felt good in whether I met my weight loss goal or not. Joanne took off like a rocket and ran around the store, grabbing dresses she thought I'd like. I was a little overwhelmed at first, but as I started trying dresses on, I realized that I was in good hands. Joanne was so upbeat and positive - all the stress I had felt from dress shopping and planning melted away. It never felt like she was pressuring me to make a decision, or that she was fine with me settling for something I was only somewhat okay with. At one point, she put some accessories on me to see what would go well with the kind of dress I liked, but she changed her mind because she didn't think they looked right. I greatly value when someone who is selling me something is also willing to tell me when something doesn't look good. Joanne is just amazing and genuine in that sense.
I ended up finding my dress, which led to a flood of tears. She gave great advice and wasn't pushy when I wanted to think about options before ordering. I did inevitably decide to purchase the dress and a belt a few days later and I returned to get my measurements and place the order. I still wasn't sure on the veil, though. I knew I wanted a cathedral length, but felt like the one I originally liked was lacking. Joanne tinkered with some veils and found a shorter veil with a trim that I liked a lot more. She verified that the manufacturer could make it cathedral length (they could!).
Meanwhile, I had been shopping in other salons for bridesmaid dresses with my bridesmaids and mother and we found a few that we liked. I have five bridesmaids of all shapes and sizes and heights, so it was important for me to find a dress that made them all feel good. One of my bridesmaids came with me to The Exquisite Bride so I could order my veil and we found the dress everyone liked, but for a slightly lower price! I was so excited, especially since bridesmaids get their dresses 10% off if they order their dresses there (only if the bride got her dress there too).
When all of my bridesmaids were in town, we went out to get their measurements done. I was really happy that Joanne could help us as well as Giselle (I'm sorry if I spelled her name incorrectly - she was wonderful too and my bridesmaids liked her a lot). We had an absolutely amazing time. There was so much talking and laughing, and it was everything I've wanted for my wedding planning. My bridesmaids are extremely chill and they are never shy about being silly. We were being a bit loud, though, and I was worried when the owner's son came over and introduced himself. He started joking around with us too! Then, one of my sisters was wondering if sleeves could be added to the bridesmaid dress. He talked to us about various options and how we could order some extra fabric, but also took two dresses off of the rack and tucked fabric from one into the other to show us how a pretty sleeve could be added. All of my bridesmaids loved the idea, so we ordered the extra fabric. I have a bridesmaid who is 6 ft tall and needed length added as well. They ended up giving my bridesmaids 15% off of their orders!
I never felt self-conscious or stressed at The Exquisite Bride, and I'm so thankful that my bridesmaids felt the same way. They took something that was my primary stressor and made it extremely pleasant and relaxing. I was hoping I'd be able to look back on dress shopping as a happy experience, and thanks to Joanne and the rest of the staff,...
Read moreIf I could give this place 0 stars I would. If you are looking for your fairy tale dressing shopping experience for what should be the best and most exciting day of your life you should NOT get your dress here. Started w/ coming here to shop for my wedding dress. Got to the boutique and I had 2 woman working w/ me. One was from the Monroeville location and was helping the store out due to being under staffed and that was her first time there, AND she was training a new consultant Neither of these women knew what they were doing. Showed them pictures and told them exactly what I was looking for and they had the audacity to tell me to pull my own dresses, which I fully do not believe is something I should have been doing considering I do not know the store, but it was obvious that they did not either. Also when I booked my appointment I was told that they carried the dress designer I was most interested in and searching for to be told when I got there that they no longer carried her and they don't have any of her dresses in the store anymore. Told them my budget and after putting me in multiple dresses w/ no success they put me in a dress double my budget (which I ended up falling in love with but not loving the price once I was told they put me in something out of my budget). This store has AWFUL lighting. It was not until the last dress I tried on that they recommended going to the front of the store for better lighting. I wish they would have offered this better lighting for every dress I tried on. Once convincing my Mom to purchase me this beautiful dress way out of our budget they tried to make it seem like we were getting an incredible discount by taking $100 off our purchase. When my dress arrived I went to try it on and once I was In the dress (With about 30 buttons up the back) the woman working with me said "we do not need to button all of these and waste time we can tell it fits right.' Got to my seamstress for my first alteration appointment and to my dismay MULTIPLE buttons came off my dress while she gently buttoned me up. I was extremely disappointed because a dress I paid over 2K for was falling apart being brand new from what I thought which should not be happening. When I called the store to have them send me new buttons for my seamstress to fix it was what seemed like the end of the world to them and they said it was my fault and we were to rough buttoning the buttons which it was not because their consultant refused to button me up in the store which they said was no longer their problem. Begged the company to order me multiple new buttons and I could only get 5 out of them (Which I'm sure costs a penny) and it took 6 months for me to receive. Once they called me to let me know the buttons had arrived I kindly asked if they would ship them to me due to not living in state and having my dress altered out of state and they tried telling me that I had to pay for shipping of a couple buttons which should only take 2 stamps maximum to mail.
Overall, I would NEVER recommended giving this place of business any of your money. If you don't care about having a good wedding experience this is easily the...
Read moreWhen looking for a wedding dress, I didn't want to go to a big store, I want somewhere small and that people cared about what I wanted. The Exquisite Bride was close to home and a small business, so I was super excited. I had a wonderful consultant named Janet, who doesn't work there anymore. She listened and proved excellent customer service. I found a beautiful dress and purchased it. Two weeks later I found out I was pregnant and tried to cancel the dress. It was already ordered and they assured me they would alter it when the time came. We ended up pushing back the wedding until this fall (2014). I picked up "a" dress about 6 months after I ordered it and hung it on the back of my bedroom door. About 2 weeks later, I received a panicked call from Exquisite Bride. They gave me the WRONG dress. I was working at the time and they needed it right away for a fitting that evening. I couldn't believe it! I had to leave work to go home get the dress and take it to them. It was ridiculous. For my trouble they did give me a necklace. So I took my dress home and hung it on my door. I than called in early August trying to make an appointment to get my dress altered, I was told it was too early. I then call a week ago and made an appointment. I didn't realize we would be out of town and tried to call and change the appointment. I was told I could not change my appointment and that I shouldn't have waited so long. I was shocked! I am going to another seamstress to get my dress altered. I also had problems with my picking out my bridesmaid's dresses. They basically laughed when I said I didn't want to spend more then $100 (the girls are only going to wear them once!). I had made an appointment thinking we would get a consultant to help us, but NOPE! We had a very larger group of 10 with us and I asked several times for an early appointment to accommodate such a group. I was told it would be no problem, but the place was packed. I talked to the other large group and they too made an appointment. Why would you put two large groups at the same time?!? My girls and I picked out a dress in about 20 minutes and then they started sizing all the girls. They told every single girl to go up a size! Two of my girls said no and they just need there dresses hemmed, but all the other girls need major alterations!
Overall this business has really gone down hill. The staff used to be so helpful, now it seems like they don't even care. It is really upsetting as I have worked in retail, put a smile on your face and help the customer! They are the reason you have a job!
However, this was not the only problem I've had...
