TL;DR We had our wedding reception here. Lori is an excellent coordinator, the food was delicious and perfectly cooked, the cake was moist, the chocolate fountain was a huge hit and the chocolate perfectly smooth, and the tulle lighting above the dance floor is 100% worth it. Not to mention reasonably priced AND an open bar. This place is an absolute winner.
My husband and I had our wedding reception here and everything was perfect! We worked primarily with Lori as our coordinator and she made sure everything ran smoothly. You hear that something always goes wrong, but nothing did here. The food was absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. I was a little worried about the food because we went to their open house and the food was a little over cooked, but on the day of the wedding that wasn't the case at all. My guests still make comments about how good the food (and cake) was!
Lori was so sweet and answered all of my questions. She was always quick to answer my emails never made me feel foolish for not knowing anything. I was always kept informed before and during the event. She even offered at the end of the night to fix us "to-go" boxes so we could have something when we got home.
I've never been a big fan of wedding cake. It's always too dry, too sweet, or bland. The baker they use had great reviews, so I felt comfortable with them. We asked for two samples and got two small cakes!! The flavors we went with were perfectly sweetened and the cake was moist and absolutely delicious. Hands down the best wedding cake I've ever had. It was what I was most looking forward to after we got back from honeymoon. It's a good thing we didn't eat the slices from our to-go boxes that night or else we never would have gotten a second taste after our honeymoon. My family ate it all!
I know this is Western Pennsylvania and a cookie table is a MUST but none of my family is from this area so I got the chocolate fountain from the vendor instead. BEST choice. Sometimes the chocolate in those fountains can get grainy but this chocolate was perfectly smooth right until the end. I was one of the last to get some, so I know! Even if you got some and left it on your plate, it remained smooth and melty. This was the best kind of witchcraft.
I'm generally a frugal person, so I wasn't convinced about getting the tulle lighting above the dance floor, but I'm glad I did. Without it the room would have felt too plain for a wedding reception. Walking in and seeing it there was a definite "Yes, this was the right decision." All doubts erased.
Oh and did I mention the open bar? Yeah. There's an open bar. My husband's guests were especially pleased.
Thank you Hampton Banquet Hall for the best wedding reception we could have possibly had! You made our day easy...
Read moreWe had a great time having our wedding reception at the Hampton Event Center.
Pros: Lori is very nice and provides lots of helpful tips and suggestions for making sure the event goes smoothly. As people who hadn't planned a wedding before, having her as a guide made things a lot easier. The decorations were quite pretty. I especially liked the Christmas decorations for our December wedding. The synthetic flowers look almost real. Don't fret about looks if you want to save money on flowers. The tablecloth, runner, and napkin selection is diverse with some good colors. The table runners are very sparkly and pretty to look at. The bartender provided for events is really friendly. Being able to have an all-inclusive package is very helpful, especially for us coming in from out of town. It makes preparations a lot smoother. Not having to hunt around for a cake, flowers, caterer, etc., is very nice. The layout of the hall is very efficient and organized. Having card boxes and gift tables ready for use is very helpful. Being able to order cases of craft beer that you can take home after the wedding is great. Although many people didn't use it at our wedding, the offers for hotel discounts for guests coming in from out of town are very helpful. The location of the venue, being in the North Hills, would be very convenient for most weddings. The gazebo is great for photos.
Cons: The easel they provided for seating charts is unstable/broken. I would consider bringing your own system for your seating chart. Some of the dinner sides are a bit bland, mainly the mashed potatoes and green beans. Lori can sometimes be a bit slow to respond to emails, but I think some of that can be attributed to the workload she has.
We definitely recommend that you consider Hampton for your...
Read moreThe hall itself is nice, women’s bathroom extremely cold seems like air is coming from outside. The food is awful! Every time I’ve been there I always end up regretting it. I was there for a wedding and they had a bunch of freezer foods like taquitos and cheese sticks that were disgusting. Was there tonight for a banquet (last of many years of thinking the food may be better for $25/person…wasn’t)The carrots are coated in pure sugar, the ham tastes like it was froze for a year marinading in orange juice/pineapple juice and then cooked with sugar. The stuffed chicken is literally a ball of box stuffing with about a 2oz sliver of chicken on top. The mashed potatoes are instant. Pasta is so lumpy it doesn’t coat the penne. Pretty much what you’d expect to get at a hospital cafeteria or school. If they let outside caters in I’d consider using this hall,...
