As a solo female traveler, I’m always searching for welcoming spots with good drinks and even better vibes and The Lion’s Den RVA didnt disappoint. I showed up on a packed Friday night around 10 PM, and the place was buzzin with the grown and sexy. If you're looking for a more chill vibe, get there a bit earlier, grab some food, and snag a table before the real fun kicks off.
From jump, security at the door was kind and quick with the process, no fuss; coat check is up front as well so you can show up and show out without lugging things around. Inside, the energy was on point, great music, great people, and not as smoky as I expected for a cigar lounge. The bar was packed (which is always a good sign), but patience paid off with strong, well-made drinks. Shoutout to the bartenders for being heavy-handed with the pours and keeping the VA old-fashioned on point *chef’s kiss.
Now, I’m no cigar expert, but Tony had me covered. I told him what I was looking for, and he recommended a smooth cigar that was everything I wanted. And even when it seemed like seating was impossible, Tony did his magic and parted the crowd to find me a comfy spot by DJ Marc J (@djmarcj) which wa sperfect for me to spend the night in my little corner, low-key two-stepping, singing along to a fire playlist while smoking on my cigar like a boss and ending the night with smooth soul and R&B.
There’s no official dance floor, but trust it didn't stop ppl from catchin a vibe from their seats and making room for a good time. The real win, though, was the sense of community. People checked in on me throughout the night, and those small gestures made a big difference. Honestly it's rare to find that kind of warmth in life, let alone nightlife lol, and it’s exactly why I’ll be back for the customer service/experience. I’m hoping to catch the live band next time on Saturday along with their brunch and $1 mimosas, so...
Read moreI'll start with the good: We drove down from the DC area. Upon entering, it is a nice looking black owned cigar establishment. We were greeted promptly and seated quickly. He purchased cigars, food and drinks. The wings and Bombay shrimp were good in flavor... there is a but coming. The Moscow mules were mediocre. The bad: We sat for a long while, to the point, he had to go seek out the hostess to see if we could be serviced. When the young lady finally came, the first thing she said was, Do you have a card to put on file? Im like, well Hello! Lol We ordered our food and drinks. The shrimp came with a very long piece of blonde hair in them. And the wings were fried very hard. We had to seek someone to AGAIN, to get a new order shrimp. The hostess informed our waitress and I watched her continue talking to a bartender instead of coming to see about us. She apologized and took them away. When she brought the shrimp back, which was fairly quickly AND on the SAME plate, made me wonder if they actually made them over. After finishing our food and finally trying to get into the cigars she came and asked if we were ordering anything else because there's a 2hr. limit on the tables. Never mind some of our time was wasted on waiting on her AND waiting on the return of our hairy shrimp. Not to mention, there were customers sitting at the bar when we arrived, still there when we left. We frequent cigar lounges VERY often. And, We did have high expectations for this lounge but they were not met at all. We were disappointed. We did not feel welcomed or satisfied with the level of service we received. We spoke to Brian, which offered no solution. We will...
Read moreI recently visited The Lions Den cigar lounge in Richmond, Virginia, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance is inviting, with a relaxed and upscale vibe that sets the perfect tone for an evening of enjoyment.
The food was a standout—every dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and paired beautifully with the overall atmosphere. It’s not often you find a cigar lounge with such a top-notch menu, but The Lions Den exceeds expectations.
The cigar selection was equally impressive, offering a wide range of options that catered to both seasoned aficionados and those new to the cigar scene. Whether you’re looking for something familiar or eager to try something new, they have you covered.
What truly made my visit memorable was the exceptional service from my bartender, Desiree. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and had a knack for making you feel right at home. Her recommendations were spot-on, and she added a personal touch that made the experience all the more enjoyable.
If you're in Richmond and looking for a premium cigar lounge experience, The Lions Den is the place to go. Highly...
