Toy Lair — Local services in Richmond

I gave 4 stars because I am not collector. I'm pretty ill-equipped to review a store of this nature. However, the layout/presentation of items is well done and the exterior grabs your attention (otherwise I wouldn't have gone in). It also seemed like a lot of people had conversations going about their interests, either among themselves or with store associates. I was very laid back in the sense that no associate approached. I was free to look around but felt like I could get assistance if I wanted it. As stated I am not a collector and didn't recognize much of the stuff. I didn't see any items that weren't in good shape. To me, it seemed like they had a lot of vintage/used figures (judging by the fact they were not boxed), various sized. They also have vintage video game items. Newer, current games were displayed for sale too.

My brother and I drove an hour to get to this shop. We spent a little over a $100 but when we got home we found one of the figurines was broken. The store has no phone number to call, only email and social media. I left several emails and direct messages but got no response. Finally I drove back and was told that their policy is no returns or exchanges. No store credit. I explained when we were here last the owner, Cody, was telling how they just moved locations and had stuff brake in the move. No store policy or return policy is posted anywhere in the store. The difference between small business owners and the retail shops is supposed to be the customer service. We drove two hours to try and have them correct their mistake and got nothing. Best toy store in Richmond for years. Reminds me of shops in NYC. Vintage, new, bootleg, huge and small toys are superbly displayed. It would take hours to see everything and the staff know their stuff.
