Binswanger Glass — Local services in Lakeside

We engaged Binswanger to install a shower enclosure as part of our bathroom renovation.  The process started off great.  They came out twice to confirm measurements before placing the glass order.  Things went downhill post installation.  We have a vanity next to the shower so we wanted to test the shower vs using it immediately and risk water damage to the vanity.  The enclosure leaked when tested and Binswanger returned to patch.  The enclosure still leaked and Binswanger returned again.  In attempting to fix the leak, Binswanger returned three times over three months and declined to return a fourth until we used to shower vs testing it for leaks.  At this point, we decided to do the work ourselves.  The existing shower was stripped out and the shower allowed to dry before new caulk was applied.  Upon testing, the leaks were solved and we have been using the shower ever since.

During Binswanger’s attempts to fix the leaks, it defended its work with statements like “these showers are not 100% leak proof” and that “putting a steady stream of water on the glass to test the shower for leakage will typically end up having some kind of leak somewhere”.  That was capped off with a rather insulting “the showers are not designed to hold water like a fish tank would”.

Binswanger seems to have a good reputation for glass installations in general.  That said, using it for showers where its stated expectation is that the final product will leak...

Recently, I was at Binswanger Glass and noticed a cute little table. Well, I know that most people think you can only get shower doors there but I’m here to tell you that they do so much more than shower doors. Michelle Banton took the time to talk to me about different designs, and to show me various pieces of glass. She helped me create my own one of the kind table. Michelle was very thorough, patient, and dedicated to ensuring that I got something that I would love. Well, Michelle, you were successful! I truly love my one of a kind table! HORRIBLE service. I’m don’t usually leave reviews, but my experience is worthy of one. My son needed a piece of glass cut for the top of a buffet. James came to his home to measure on 7/17/24. SEVEN weeks have gone by and NOTHING has been done. After James visited, I never heard back, and have called twice within the past week to follow up on the status. Last week, I was told I’d receive a phone call to let me know what was going on. I received no return phone call, so I called again, only to be told nothing has been done.
