Pretty good Chinese buffet! You will not leave disappointed (in the restaurant, but disappointed in yourself for eating too much!).
First time I came was on a Sunday afternoon to try out their buffet (only from 11am - 3pm).The place looked like crap from the outside and the parking lot was small. The restaurant itself inside was small in my opinion but at least it looked decent. The music playing at the time was pop music so I didn't get to enjoy Chinese music while eating Chinese.
I was asked what I wanted to drink before I even got a chance to sit down and even got my drinks pretty quick. The food selection was quite small. Maybe 16 total choices? But these options were I assume most popular Chinese food among people. Chicken and broccoli, pepper steak, etc.. I tried out every selection there and this buffet right here, it got the good stuff. The fresh veggies actually looked and tasted FRESH. WHAT? In a Chinese place fresh veggies actually being fresh? Anyways lots of chicken was served and all the chicken there made the chicken sacrifices worth it.
The server... oh my gosh... She was a one man (woman) team! There were 4 tables being served when I got there and 8 tables being served when I was leaving. Though she never asked if the food was good so I was guessing her English was not that good. But she was zipping zapping from table to table refilling drinks, taking away dirty plates when people left for food. She deserved an MVP award. This was what I called good service.
The price for a lunch buffet per person was $10.95 so pretty good deal...
Read moreI am giving them 2 stars primarily because they gave us an extra meal that we didn't order, so I ended up having to pay an extra $16 than I should have for food that I didn't want. I was a little confused about the price when I went to pick it up, but since we ordered by phone I didn't know what the total would be. They also don't provide an itemized receipt, so there was no way for me to check if they got it right. It wasn't until I got home that I realized there was an extra meal, and no one liked it, so it just ended up in the garbage. A waste of $16.
I got this with 2 of my friends, I got the sesame chicken, which was very good so I was satisfied with that. The rangoons/wontons were flavorless and bland. One of my friends food was about 2/3 celery (it was the garlic pork), which was a crazy amount of celery for the dish. The lo mein was alright, but not the best I've had. They were a fine option to try, but there are far better chinese places...
Read moreI'm Asian, unlike a lot of my peers, I do enjoy American Chinese food. I went to this place because of the good review and I wanted to try their buffet. I guess all the good review did not come from people who had the buffet. The food is alright, it's just terribly overpriced for what it is. I bought dinner buffet for two and the total plus the tax comes to $31.65, then $3 for the tip. So that's roughly $17.5 per adult for the dinner buffet. I just feel like I have been cheated. For $17.5 they should have at least have some seafood dishes around, but it's all just chicken and beef dishes, and it's a really small buffet, there are only like 10-15 dishes. I have been to 5 Chinese buffets around Richmond, Hunan East has the worst value out of them all. Eating at this buffet just feels like giving out free money to the owner. If you love buffet, save your money for...
