I am writing this post to share my unfortunate experience at Walker and Son with others. The work I had done on a ring at this jeweler was shockingly bad. The work performed here resulted in multiple areas of visibly poor-quality work. These issues are clearly evident in the photos posted along with this review. I was returned a ring with a diamond that was no longer level, crooked settings, scratch marks along the band, and a band that has uneven and weirdly shaped widths all the way around. These issues were not present when I originally brought the ring to Walker and Son. They are a result of the work performed there. While I don’t think the owner is a malicious person, be warned that he truly thinks the product in these photos is quality work (as bad as they are). Not only did he hand me back this ring as a finished product with multiple problems that are visibly obvious for a price tag of $1,300.00 but he dug his heels in claiming to “stand behind his work” and refused to give me a refund despite the exceptionally bad job. So be aware that he will not issue you your money back regardless of how poor the quality of work performed. Instead, he will insist on keeping the money and request you bring it back for him to fix despite his doing an awful job to begin with – I don’t know a single person who would look at the work done on the ring depicted in these photos and have any confidence in his ability to not ruin the ring further during a second attempt. I had high expectations for this business based on other reviews and I was astonished by how awful the work and experience turned out. I have since had the ring serviced at a different Richmond business (not Walker and Son) and they were able to fix my ring the same as I would expect any reputable jeweler with sufficient knowledge and expertise, but it cost me another $1,200. Overall, this was an expensive and heartbreaking ordeal. I hope nobody else goes through anything similar by choosing this business. Based on my experience, I would recommend you seek out a different business that does not require any payment upfront, has clearer transparency about their scope of practice, is able to acknowledge when they’ve provided exceptionally poor-quality service and is willing to issue a refund in cases of truly terrible work. Issuing a refund as requested, at the very minimum, would have been the right thing to do in this particular case.

Thankful for Walk and Son. I was about to get engaged and wanted to be a part of the process of making the ring. Previous jewlers tried to sell me products I was not interested in from the start. I did a wax up of the ring and tried to reach out to other jewelers but was unable to have it casted in Richmond until I found out about Walker and Son. EJ talked me through the entire process and helped me carve the wax. EJ was not a sales person but an artist. He did not try to upsell me on anything. In fact, some of the recommendations he made might have made it less profitable for him. He allowed me to be a part of the process often inviting me in the shop, taking pictures and videos of each step. He was encouraging throughout the process and let me run with this idea as far as I wanted and always stepped in when needed. He set the stones and did a great job finishing and polishing the ring. I was shocked when I saw the finished product. Truly an honest business. If you are looking for a custom made, unique, artistic gift for a loved one, I would highly suggest Walker and Son.

I came in yesterday afternoon to have two of my mothers Turquoise vintage rings restored after bending the ring bands. EJ was super friendly, helpful and informative. He walked me through all of my possible options and was able to fix them both quite easily. While I was waiting his colleague showed me all of their custom pieces they have made throughout the years. They have a variety of unique, and elegant jewelry. I love that is a local family owned business located on the MacArthur strip in Bellevue. Thanks guys! I'll for sure be back again.

Cannot recommend this place enough! EJ is so wonderful to work with and more knowledgeable than anyone else I met while shopping for wedding rings in Richmond.

Some bigger jewelry shops wanted to charge just to meet with me and look at the gold I wanted to use for material. Not only was EJ and his apprentice willing to meet with me for a free consultation, but they were willing to work with my grandparents old rings as the base for the material. Other shops would charge just to inevitably outsource the job, EJ melted and casted my ring himself. Could not be happier with the finished product - a perfect one of a kind wedding ring made with care. My fiancée and I were proud to support a small family business and would recommend going to EJ for anyone looking for wedding bands or any other custom jewelry repairs!...
